Okay, but a lot of improvement needed

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood quality of life as hours worked are not too much. Brookfield also sponsors several arts initiatives for which employees may be able to receive free tickets.

ConsWork is not very challenging in the back office. Management is not in tune with the employees. Salary is not up to NYC standards.

    Trade Support Associate

Trade Support (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsSome great coworkers across several internal teams.
Great work life balance - rarely work more than 40.

ConsPoor leadership, lots of politics with little results.
    Below average pay.
Office has clique's like a school cafeteria, this leads to terrible communication.
No sense of ownership for anyone's work ethics or decision making.
Office is mostly AVP, VP and Directors - about 70% of employes have this sort of title (including the entire front office which has no associate on the team). This creates inflated egos.
Wasteful - money only goes to misguided projects and old leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemove NY senior leadership, everyone has been there to long without having accountability.
    Attempt to be proactive.

Great benefits, excellent location, although it's not ideal for technology workers who want to advance their careers

IT Professional (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsGood benefits package, excellent office location, good balance between work and personal life.

ConsGood employees won't stay very long. There is no CIO and senior management don't have a clear vision.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpower your employees or at least listen to what they have to say.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Great learning experience

    Analyst (Current Employee) Sydney (Australia)

ProsQualified team, strong focus on improvement in the Australian market, strong brand reputation in Australia

ConsFar removed from head office in Canada. Sometimes felt like it was managed like a private equity portfolio company and constrained financially at times.

    Laid back, friendly corporate culture.

Investment Analyst (Former Employee) Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

ProsLaid back and friendly senior management.
    Helpful and hard working colleagues.

ConsToo Toronto / North America centric.
Corporation is still run like a small club controlled by the senior Managing Directors, and not like a Fortune 500 / 1000 company.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrust the locals when you are looking at overseas markets.

    Managing and marketing residential properties

Real Estate Consultant (Former Employee) Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsBig name company in the relocation field. An asset to your resume. Comfortable, airy office. Subsidized cafeteria. Good benefits. Promotes from within.

ConsBadly managed work flow. Low employee morale in my department which had obviously been ongoing and unaddressed for a long time. Poorly designed training program.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay more in touch with front line employees and don't allow problems to fester until they escalate into major issues.
