    Pros

Young professionals can get a chance to take on big responsibilities beyond their experience to learn and challenge themselves. The guys from 3G know how to make money and you can learn a lot.

    Cons

There is no work/life balance, the franchisees can't stand and don't trust BK corporate, BK does not respect their employees or their franchisees. Although you can learn a lot on the job, it's not a good life and everyone is miserable. After being there for about a year, they fired everyone above the director level and brought in 3G employees from Brazil from the Anheuser Busch business (3G also owns AB/Inbev) All they care about is the year over year sales top line sales and traffic. There is no effort to build a lasting brand or a corporate culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They do not care about advice as long as the company is profitable for shareholders.

    Pros

Free or discounted food, friendly coworkers and customers sometimes.

    Cons

I was a shift manager and had spend over 3 years of my life working there and only made 8.40 an hour. Got a 10 cent raise after becoming a manager and quit. Either had to work really early or really late in to the night. Unreliable co workers. People are rude to you and get angry about stupid things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay your employees more.

    Pros

Burger King corporate taught me a lot about food service and how to properly work with customers. I learned how to train new crew members. I learned how food should be prepped and made even as a cashier.

    Cons

Once my store moved to franchise the political corruption of my store (and district) became jarringly evident. We were promised raises and breaks. Instead we received a crook who was and still is protected by his bosses and a crew too afraid to lose the job that feeds their kids.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to any management above district: Research who gets into any management position and why.

    Pros

It depends on what you're hired as. Program hires have more perks. However everyone has Long hours, nor work life balance, if you attempt to leave before 7 pm people look at you as if you're crazy

    Cons

The goal of this company is to be 90% MBA Hires and recent college grads and only 10% with real world experience. If you are a recent MBA grad from an IVY League school you start at a higher title and salary than those with previous work experience. It doesn’t matter that the recent college grads don’t know how to do the job. This company has VPs in Marketing with no marketing experience, you can even led R&D and innovation without having an understanding of development. It’s the same with human resources and company operations.

That’s what the 10% real world hires are for. Your job isn’t to get promoted. Your job isn’t to be developed. You primary responsibility is to train the recent college grads. You’re underpaid so that they can offer the program hires a premium salary. It doesn’t matter that the morale for people with real world experience is in the toilet because they are forced to train their new bosses and know that their efforts go unnoticed. They do all of the work because the MBA hires and management trainees get promoted every 6 months, so they can’t be required to get their hands dirty and really have a long term assignment.

There’s not a cost of living increase and though they may offer you a high bonus, they go out of your way to set up unreasonable targets. So the only way most people get a raise is by a promotion. Which means the only people who are earning more money are the recent college grads. There were so many hard workers there who haven’t had raises in years.

To get promoted at BK you need to fall into 1 of the 5 categories: be Brazilian, be a recent college grad from a preferred school, graduate from an Ivy league business school, previously worked in private equity.

This is just the type of the iceberg of all of the inequity that I saw first hand at Burger King

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. Keep doing what you're doing. It's part of the plan to have an insulated culture that only knows 3G and BK

    Pros

it was fast paced, and the hours flew by

    Cons

very poor training. very unorganized. very poor management. i worked for this company for 3 months, and they went through 3 managers! there was little communication, and the shift leads contradicted pretty much everything the managers told the crew to do. there was very very rarely breaks given as well, and the working environment was just trashy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

maybe hire managers who know what they are doing

Former Employee - Assistant Manager in Euclid, OH

    Pros

The best thing about working here is the relationship you develop with co-workers, everything is about team work.

    Cons

Higher management does not care about employees at all; No raises ; slave hours; swing shifts closes late as 3 am; Does not mind ripping off employees; pays dirt wages for hard work; management 50 hours a week for barely any money break it down 10.00 an hr.; pays hourly employees minimum wage but definitely not equivalent to work load; No fulltime employees for crew level only management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reevaluate higher position holders and their practices; you need districts that lead by example instead of only caring to show up at inspections; take care of your employees instead of ripping them off with unfair wages and schedules that makes it almost impossible to have any home/work balance.
