    Pays the bills

Track Supervisor (Current Employee) Barstow, CA

ProsDecent money as long as you are willing to put in the hours. I dont think the way they promote or give the pre-merger guys special seniorty is fair nor is it correct.

ConsPrior rights is the worst thing any union job that i have worked for. It doesnt maake sense that some one thats been working a job for 7 years can can get knocked out by a guy with 2 weeks.

Advice to Senior ManagementWe are out here busting our asses to make sure you get your bonus but when things go wrong you easily forgot all the time and sweat we put into the job

    bnsf railway

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosthe pros for working at bnsf railway are, good pay, great benefits package, relax working atmosphere and you make long life friends in the process.

Conscons are, irregular hours, cells phone surgically attached to your hip, on call 24/7, management can be a bit tedious at times,

Advice to Senior Managementmy only advice to the management would be to cut us some slack. have some compassion, we work in every condition known to man.

    BNSF Locomotive Engineer

Locomotive Engineer (Current Employee) Galesburg, IL

ProsGood job security, pay, and benefits with some of the best equipment to work with in the industry. It is also a good job to have.

ConsSome of the downsides of working at BNSF railroad is that you have no set schedule to know when you are going to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo the senior management in the Galesburg yard, you need to show some respect to the guy's who do the work for you. Like having cookouts like other yards in the company.

A good place to work, with decent pay & benifits.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI enjoy working outside, & working in various locations. It keeps you more motivated & focused, than sitting in one place, in an office. You get a feeling of accomplishment, knowing you're helping move comodites & products to were they need to go.

ConsWorking outside in the elements can be challeging sometimes. Like they say, it's the hottest place in the summer, & coldest place in the winter.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more praise & support given to the salaried employees. The ones that keep the trains moving. If it wasn't for them there wouldn't be a BNSF.

    Railroad Industry

    Assistant Roadmaster/Grinding Supervisor (Current Employee)

    ProsPay, benefits, bonuses are exceptional.

ConsDeadly job and no work life balance in the engineering department. No training when hired. "Good 'ole boy" system

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on training. Look at the future of those you hire and how it will affect the organization.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
