    Pros

Great Pay (Straight Salary...no bonus...but very high salary).....
    Good Benefits...incentives to be fit.......
Executive leadership is highly motivated and driven.....
People are great for the most part, except the occasional difficult co-worker...but this is the same anywhere....

    Cons

Processes and people are stuck in time (Specifically 25 years ago).
Wants to be an innovation company, but far from it.
A ton of empire builders here.......
Survivalist culture since there have regular layoffs each year.....
Revenue growth is because of cost cuts.....not true growth (revenue is declining YoY)....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive management needs to focus on building a solid leadership team underneath them that can execute their vision. Also, layoffs while necessary, should be last result and not a annual occurrence. The Executive team is smart enough to fix these problems....they just need prioritize them.

    Pros

Great training system, so great it never ends because you get pointed in a new direction until whoever decided to change your path realizes they've made a terrible mistake. Pay is decent.

    Cons

Training never ends, or it doesn't come on time, so you take calls on a product you weren't even told existed, but surprise! You supported them as of 8 am, good luck! A lot of cover your butting all over, as engineers are lead to believe they have to meet one set of numbers, until the end of the year when there were hidden numbers they were supposed to track anyways! Oh and your job is now on the line because of those hidden numbers, have fun!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe you could stop the bleeding of people coming in, getting trained, and then hired by your clients if you came close to matching their pay...or paid us when we worked the weekends for you...or made us feel like we had value

    Pros

Good acquisitions resulting in gaining strong leadership positions in certain areas. New CEO seems to have a good handle of the problems and is promising.

    Cons

Not able to retain talent (and hence leadership position).. and worst is that the e-team doesn't seem to care -- it's even more disturbing because Mike comes from a talent management company. Was never an agile environment, and it's getting worse with e-team pulling controls and putting more governance in place. CA acts like a company of 10 times its size.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen before react. Understand the implications of your actions / words. It's probably not too late to fix the culture.

    Pros

Good money, better than most places i've seen. leadership has some bright spots. best online training i've seen in any company.

    Cons

terrible culture.... lousy place for anyone of color, terrible culture and values. scurrilous business practices... sales drives everything into the ground and causes downstream problems with customers. i'm surprised that they retain customers. they give the software away to retain customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Mainframe business had a great run for a number of years, but has since lost its spark.

    Cons

This is a company that has become a trough for executives and board members to feed.

I worked at CA Technologies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A character building experience. Constantly in restructuring. Relying on acquisition intellectual capital; very little innovation. If you like change and Chekov novels, work here. About the only thing I can think of is there are very good process engineers here -- if you are into that.

    Cons

Managers are a-w-f-u-l. Layoffs are b-r-u-t-a-l and callous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people like the human capital they are. Show some respect. Select a plan and stick to it. Create something. change the name: Everybody thinks you are an abbreviation for California.

I worked at CA Technologies full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Workforce Mobility
Decent Management in some regions. – Worst direct management to report to are located at Corporate in Islandia.

    Cons

Ruthless senior management at Corporate– The Good Ol’ Boy Network is the prevalent driving force at this company.
New CEO immediately laid off most of the long term older employees who had 20 plus years tenure with no regard to years of productive loyal service to the company.
Very unprofessional practices by long term senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CA continues to replace CEOs while leaving the same executive senior management in place resulting in minimal modification or improvements at this company. It will never truly change until these layers are removed.
