A company interested into something beyond a software tool vendor.

Global Industry Solutions Team Leader (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsHad lots of freedom in terms of how to accomplish my goals.

ConsThere was an "old" school and a "new" school of people which effected the politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop changing the CEO every few years. Pay more attention to the companies you are buying and why.

Good Company to work for, but it's not your common high tech company in the Silicon Valley

Senior Director, Engineering Services (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA

ProsOverall benefits are good. The products are great and you get to learn a lot. CA also pushes people to innovate and invent. They have a great patent program. From the product perspective, they are one of the leaders.

ConsIMHO Salaries are a place where they can improve. I have been with this company for a long time. I don't feel they emphasize on career growth enough.

    Services Consultant

Services Consultant (Current Employee) Atlanta, GA

ProsTeamwork is very important to this company and everyone tries hard to look out for each other. CA really is a company of thousands thinking as one. Some of the perks include bonuses every 3 months, work from home when not traveling onsite, and traveling perks such as rewards programs that you get to keep for your personal travel. Compensation is very competitive.

ConsLots of Travel. About 90% Travel. This puts a huge strain on your work-life balance. You do have the option to travel back every weekend but spending 90% of the year on the road does put a strain on your personal life. Also need to work on the promotion scale. Time it seems to be very slow when trying to move up within the company

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to the young talent that the company is developing via the Associate Consultant Program.

Decent company, but job security is non-existent.

Senior Technical Writer (Former Employee) Islandia, NY

ProsGood salary and benefits, flexibility was very good (they used to promote working remotely) and my manager was fantastic. I thought the work-life balance was great for where I was in my life. Great people to work with.

ConsLeadership at the top - CA stands for Change Always. Not enough training and development. No job security.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain and retain your employee base - and make your employees feel valued, instead of always worrying about when the next layoff is.

Tough company that rewards talent and success

Senior Principal Consultant, Technical Sales (Current Employee)

ProsGreat internal training opportunities if you are self driven to seek them out
Strong culture that is focused on driving successful sales
    Innovative long term vision
There are always shiny new toys if you are interested in learning.

ConsTough environment that comes from a large enterprise focused on Sales, cash flow and Technology, if you are not self motivated CA is not the place for you.
Rapid acquisition of new companies can often leave the new employees dazed and confused in the labyrinth of CA internal workings.

Advice to Senior Managementthere needs to be a little more handholding for newly hired or newly acquired employees.

Good people trying to find thier way in the new world

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat work ethic and committment to success;

ConsSmaller team's work is often subverted by greater organizational misalignment.

Advice to Senior Managementrecognize and promote talent and execution vs appearance. Far too many "talkers" get promoted up at CA

Great People, Lots of poor management

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Ewing, NJ

ProsGood compensation, decent benefits, good flexibility and work life balance

ConsCertain business units and management have an antiquated mentality which leads to lack or promotions and career advancement

Advice to Senior ManagementHave an open and honest strategy so your employees know where their roles fit into the companies goals.
