Former Employee – worked at CAE
Pros – was a great ambiance, open, friendly work environment up until the last 5-8 years. Given lots of responsibility early in career. Plenty of opportunity for travel, sometimes at cost of personal life.
Cons – Gone down hill. Nothing but cost cutting, and reorganizing. Atmosphere is certainly not the same as it use to be when it was one of the top 100 companies to work for in Canada. Some shift work which is not ideal, especially when travel is also involved.

Pros – If you are a big fan of airplanes, you will enjoy working there. I had the chance of working on various flight simulators and it is always a thrill to fly them to test your simulation software. You also get the opportunity to travel to customers' sites to complete the installation. There are various engineering departments, so, if you get bored, you can do a lateral transfer and work on something completely different.
Cons – As with most public companies lately, we work a bit understaffed and with the pressure to deliver. We have to learn a lot of technology mostly by ourselves but, I think it is the case for all software related jobs. It can take a while to adopt new software technologies at CAE.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to the rank and file employees.
