Very poor - CBRE has no idea what it is doing with Facilities Professionals. NONE.

Facilities Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThey paid well. Although they took away our bonuses, salary increases and did not honor any promises made before or after hire.

ConsThey allowed idiots with multiple complaints against them remain as managers. They allowed everyone with experience leave and wont renegotiate leases so cheap customers don't have to pay fairly for services paid for with blood, sweat and tears. CBRE just doesn't care about their own employees enough.

Overworked/Underpaid/Poor Trusted

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at CBRE

ProsEarned a paycheck. Really no other pro other than Remote program (which became a con because you ended up working even longer hours from home).

Cons-Management extremely unethical
-Many people unqualified for positions especially at Assistant Controller level and above
-Discriminatory practices commonplace
-Extremely, unrealistically long hours (routinely 50-60 hrs/wk) with no relief
-Highly political environment; Very cliquish
-Antiquated systems
-Pay WAY below market
-Many members of mgmt treat employees w/open disrespect and are often rude/cruel
-Lots of family members working together...NEVER A GOOD IDEA!!!
-Lip service to employee appreciation

Advice to Senior Management-Hire an independent, local HR Mgr w/no reporting to local Sr. Mgmt
-Investigate high turnover rate
-Clean house of local Sr. Mgmt to improve morale and local reputation
-Analyze workloads and provide immediate relief
-Review salary levels
-Make amends to remaining staff and re-establish trust by allowing staff to give full review of poor work environment and provide suggestions for improvement

Bad leadership

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Las Vegas, NV

I have been working at CBRE full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIt may enhance your resume.

ConsIn my market the work environment is poor due to absentee leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour values are excellent and if followed by the markets this company could reach new heights. Take a close look at the market leadership and their daily routine. They should set an example for genuine interest in employee development, work ethic, and client care. If they do not operate on your model of excellence please replace them. Set the standard that integrity and lawful operation are paramount.

Easily fire good employs

Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at CBRE full-time

ProsPay
Benefit
Systems
Computers
Some very good facility managers and project managers

ConsHigh turnover of employees on the team I worked on due to voluntary quits and out of the blue terminations. This is a pyramid type of organization with the people at the top making big bucks, but people at the bottom working like dogs.

Advice to Senior ManagementRead your values on your homepage and make sure your ADs follow them.

Horrible to work for

Senior Property Manager (Former Employee)
Kent, WA

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsIn my time with CBRE I don't have any pros. It was a very negative environment.

ConsVERY POOR upper management. They actually said to everyone in my office that if we're unhappy with CBRE they would be more than willing to help us find a new job. Unqualified leadership that would actually talk about other employee problems in front of the whole office. Very unprofessional.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire management that are qualified for the job. The management I worked with were not qualified for their position. One was a former accountant that was absolutely not qualified for the position. I've never worked at a company where I asked for help and was told "if I'm not happy they would help me find another job". Those are the exact words they told at least 6 employees that I know of. Of course, all of us don't work for CBRE any more. I felt like I worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and asked for help with my work load and was told I should look at my time management better. CBRE will work you to a break down. They have a very bad reputation in the property management industry for working their employees to the ground. I would never recommend CBRE to anyone.

CBRE is corporate america defined.

Project Coordinator (Former Employee)
Denver, CO

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

ProsGetting a paycheck in a down economy. Working with amazing clients.

ConsGetting a paycheck that makes you wonder why you gave up your unemployment. Working with clientzillas. Company is centered around brokers and real estate managers creating an environment of ego and hierarchy and us vs. them attitude. Bureaucracy gets in the way of serving the client. Politics play a huge role in being successful short and long term. Uber corporate attitude (see: multinational conglomerate.)

Advice to Senior ManagementBuild teams to achieve better results for the client, company, and individual. (advice: team building as an assignment with a deadline is still work)

Horrible

Communication Specialist (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at CBRE full-time for more than a year

Prosstable company, beautiful offices, nice coworkers

Conshorrible management, less than average pay

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to improve their communication with their teams and acknowledge accomplishments instead of having them go unnoticed. It causes low work morale.

Long hours, no recognituion

Senior Property Accountant (Former Employee)
Houston, TX

I worked at CBRE full-time

ProsIt looks good on your resume; however, a lot of employers know about CBRE's reputation. Which them becomes a plus. Potential employers know it is one step above a sweat shop.

ConsLong hours, terrible management and even more so of their managers, no bonuses or raises unless you are in management. Deadlines changed monthly, therefore, making it very, very difficult to hit the deadline. This then leaves a window open for them to dismiss you with that being the cause. My 3 years there seemed like at least 6.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at who supports you and who helped to get you where you are today. Look harder at mid-management level candidates. Some of the ones that I have experience with don't know how to manage their teams, but just know how to play the game. Will throw anyone under them under the bus to save them.
