I have been working at CBRE

    Pros

Company offers a lot of resources

    Cons

Things can be disorganized at times and people like to deflect their responsibilities at times as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication, organization, and could move towards catering to the younger work force that is beginning to overtake the work force.

I have been working at CBRE full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, great collaboration, great clients. You can get a lot of great experience here.

    Cons

Steers like a cow- too big to make 'quick and nimble' decisions. If you're a support person (HR, Finance, legal, assisstants) and you don't have deep experience in one of the main lines of business (i.e. brokerage, project management, facility management, etc) then your career options are fairly limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in the platform. Invest more in people below the leadership level (how are they going to get to leadership level if they don't get any help?).

I worked at CBRE full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

There are numerous job opportunities with a large assortment of clients as CBRE is an international company with many client relationships.

    Cons

As the company is so large, if you do not have good leadership within your management team then you can get lost in the large scope of work to be done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Identify ways to better connect with your employees so they feel heard and valued.

I worked at CBRE full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity when the real estate market is healthy. Competitive but fair. Allows you to make a much or a little as you want through their commission structure.

    Cons

Not very team building or company loyalty oriented. CBRE is a marketing brand for real estate. Women have to fight hard to move up and not be see as administrative support only.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more opportunities for younger associates to work with experienced professionals in the company. Make this incentive driven and it will help groom the next generation of talent.

    I worked at CBRE full-time

    Pros

I recommend this as a starting point for anyone new to the industry; Easy advancement within the company, will hire and train, very good company to start career in.

    Cons

frustrating middle management; under appreciated, underpaid & overworked admin staff; favoritism to brokerage; neglected admin staff; desire to meet budgetary goals for corporate HQ at expense of workplace happiness of admin staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that if you want to reduce turnover of your admin staff, you must show loosen the purse strings and hire more people to relieve the burden of the existing staff. I, and many others, worked in positions better suited for 2 or 3 employees. Admin staff is consistently overworked and very under appreciated. You create resentment when brokerage is given freedom to mistreat their admins, but then make promises to improve working conditions for admin staff. Then give very confusing signals when management is seen attending workplace gatherings and happy hours with Brokerage while the admin staff are left to work overtime.

    Pros

Largest commercial real estate company in the world. Many different departments to try as your interests change.

    Cons

Growing very quickly in the market and not always hiring the best candidate for the position. Lack of onboarding

I worked at CBRE as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I had the best boss ever. His name was Doug Goss. He helped me expand my abilities into Swichgear operations and large Generators. He was very fair to employees and made for a good atmosphere to work. .

    Cons

Some challenges were to be correct in everything we were involved with . We worked with the hiring manager in the same office so we learned to work closely with him and meet his needs. This experience taught us why the customer needs to receive what he ask for and never skimp on operations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

From my experience having all employees completely involved with what is going on in the facility seems to bring unity and teamwork. Making sure every one is carrying there load and help others when need be. Listening to ideas from all employees gests them involved and makes them feel important..

I have been working at CBRE

    Pros

It was a good place to get my foot in the door after college. The people are fun and the pay is very good.

    Cons

Not much movement in the creative area. Additionally there was seemingly no preparation time for anything.

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. All depends on what account you work on.

    Cons

Certain accounts lose track of CBRE as a whole. Everything evolves around cost savings and cut backs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train existing employees more often, advise college reimbursement.
