Awful?

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at CBS Outdoor full-time

ProsAside from any management, great people.

ConsI don't know where to start. You would think that with a company like this, there would be some relationship between position and competence. Like a manager should know how to use a question mark in a sentence, or not make up words, or not say that their best skill is delegating. Unfortunately, that's not the case at all. I could really go on a rant here, but I’ll be brief. If you want to be in sales, there’s no training, so good luck. If you want a career path, it won’t happen unless you’re in sales and can network with the right guys. If you’re in anything other than a sales role, there’s no training and no opportunity for growth. I really like the people I worked with, but this company was a depressing dead end that was a total void in my career.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

You can advance into senior management if you've been hit in the head pretty hard several times in your life.

ProsDecent experience if you can survive a "sink or swim" type of environment. Ok money to be made even if you're not appreciated for the effort. As long as you're generating results you can advance into sales management (if you can stand working for one of the company's senior managers)

ConsEx-athlete senior management are less than intelligent, spiteful bullies. The East Coast Senior Vice President excels at management through harassment, interrogation and humiliation. Avoid working in one of his East Coast markets for sure. Totally unprofessional management approach.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat people like humans and not as disposable assets. Get rid of the bullying atmosphere. Invest in your staff and encourage them with positive feedback, adopt a zero tolerance policy of harassment and enforce it, even if it's the company's senior managers.

ProsPay is good- since they have nothing else to offer they throw money at you.

Consno reviews hence no opportunity for setting career path and advancement. Long hours and too much work unevenly distributed.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart seeing and treating your employees as human beings instead of workhorses.

Bitter, not appreciated for many 65 hour plus work weeks. Learned Alot............

Sales Executive/Real Estate Management (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at CBS Outdoor

ProsAbility to work, at your own speed, Mgmt did not breath down your neck very often.

ConsPassed on promoting from within, Brought in new employees to fill senior positions, when positions were given to other new employee's, after positioned employees with 4 plus years was promised to proven ermployees with great track/sales record.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management in various divisions are getting kickbacks from Vendors, I would not play along and that is why I was terminated. They need better Cost Control Management, spend some money, Mr. Kelly on good cost accountants, and better internal accounting controls..... Bonus system is outdated, and should be better paid to performance.. I have alot of other comments, that would help build respect between Upper Mgmt. to the hourly employee. It's not always about $$$, it's about the respect you show your TEAM.

You'll either love it, or hate it.

Traffic Coordinator (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at CBS Outdoor

ProsThe connections, networking, etc. Account Executive positions are the reason to be here, they can pay six figures and put you in front of great clients. Clients would be Parmount, Dreamworks, Sony Pictures, etc.

ConsThe management and the fact that its Advertising. People get shortened hours, hate when you work overtime and expect you to finish everything perfectly. You will get thrown under the bus everytime. You literally spend more time covering your footsteps than you do doing your job comfortably.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a life, honestly. There's more to life than pushing people around. It takes more than a smart person, it takes kind people to manage and get better results.
