    Pros

Great culture, a lot of support from the organization. Great Benefits, PTO etc... and training is excellent with great retention.

    Cons

There is a large luck factor in the role and if you like to have control over tasks and outcomes, this is not for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clearer about what the role entails and refrain from using jargony terms during the hiring process.

I have been working at CEB full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This review is for a mid-career position in strategic research.
CEB does great great work. The location, offices are extremely nice. The people who work there are collegial and not competitive. The pay and benefits are very good, and there is time in the calendar to take advantage of paid time off. They have a very sophisticated talent management organization and processes that contribute to employee growth and success. Unlike consulting, there is very little travel.

    Cons

60 to 70 hour weeks, and the expectation that you will do work over the weekend is the norm. Your success is tied inexorably to the success of your research program, and, unlike consulting, if you have one less than stellar engagement cycle, your program, and your job, may simply be eliminated. Thus, there is the expectation of a considerable amount of sales support and new business development. The culture relies upon highly ambitious people who are motivated by bonuses and career advancement - simply doing good work is not enough.

    Pros

    -culture -smart, fun, attractive and
    -peer-learning and collaboration
    -networking and career pathing
-learning & development - everyone is willing to help you get where you want to go
    -promotions
-member partnerships-speaking and/or meeting with F100 executives daily and gaining insight into the business environment at large, but especially in the functional area that you are focused on.

    Cons

Direct manager (AM/SE's) sometimes get on "power trips" - well I've only had one who was hard to work with. ... but worth mentioning as this partnerhship is tight knit.

I have been working at CEB full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary, benefits, etc. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

IT Management is completely off their rocker. No idea what they are doing. Having acquired businesses that were mostly software or service development oriented, CEB has no idea how to develop these types of products. Squandering good platforms that were lucrative. Very sad. Lost many, many excellent IT people of the last 2-3 years. Development is mostly done by shoddy overseas outsourcing firms.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep all development in-house in Europe or the US. Enhance existing products, instead of trying to start over and replace them. Do whatever you need to, to retain existing people to keep the knowledge base.

Great People, the management at times has no idea what they are doing and is unrealistic.

    Pros

Great people, Great training, Free things like happy hours, free computer, great product even though i think the company does a bad job marketing it.

    Cons

the pay its simply isn't enough to live on. Stop the churn and burn approach when it comes to your entry level employees. the management is terrible and they are disconnected from the ground level employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp middle market and do a much better job marketing your product

I have been working at CEB

    Pros

The graphic design department has fun activities and a relaxed atmosphere. We get to where jeans most days of the week. Pay is pretty good and benefits decent. $500 matching for charities each year. 19 paid days off, not including 9 holidays each year. (no sick leave). People working in the graphic design department can make overtime pay if they work over 40 hours a week. This place looks great on a resume for when you eventually jump ship (turnover seems a little higher than normal)

    Cons

The stop clock system for each project is pretty absurd. You literally have to document every minute of your day. The graphic design department is viewed as a kind of service to the rest of the company instead of an equal partnership where both sides need to work collaboratively to make things happen. Plan on taking a lot of initiative to figure things out—initial training wasn't very helpful. 360 reviews take up so much time (twice a year) and are intimidating and overly detailed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stand up for the department and push back on internal clients on behalf of your staff.

    Pros

Great team, great commission opportunity. I learned a lot and the young culture really appealed to me and continues to.

    Cons

Not a ton of room for growth given the practice I was in and there was a lack of structure at the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at CEB full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Not really told how to do my job, but given support when needed. Management are friendly and low key. All management is highly accessible and approachable.

    Cons

Probably the worst hiring process I have ever seen. Long delays, terrible job of explaining what the day to day will look like, no interaction with people in seat for the role, and a lot of confusion over amx vs bdx. HR people were friendly, but I had much better interviews with every other company i interviewed with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay your new hires better. allow flexibility to promote out of SSPD levels without necessarily hitting the exact metric each quarter. This policy takes advantage of new hires and traps them in low paying jobs. 40,000 base for DC is very very low. 55,000 would be more consistent with the nature of the role.

    Pros

I came here for career development, and that's what I got. Like all things in life, you only get out of it what you put in, but there's a lot to get from a career at CEB. I began in the product track. (Not the sales side.)

    Cons

A bit under market pay for consulting, but it's fair for the work-life balance.
