Alot of talk but little action!

    Director (Former Employee) Fairfax, VA

ProsYou work with some wonderful people each and every day - smart, talented and caring!

ConsLeadership is lacking in every way
VP Level managers or hold overs from AMS are overbearing, rude and not very smart. Account Managers or VP's that never leave their office and yet pretend to know what the client thinks - they give no credit to their teams and take commission

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider changing management or interviewing Director level folks to see what is truly going on.

CGI Is A Dysfunctional, Blended Family

Multimedia Specialist (Current Employee) Arlington, VA

ProsThis is a very stable company. With so many markets and regions under its divisions, CGI can provide the option of transfers in your immediate area or around the country. For those with varied IT interests, you have many options here.

Also, CGI provides the benefits that employees who've worked in the professional corporate environment are used to: health care, life crisis solutions (free counseling, adoption support) and internal professional mentoring (if you're not on one of the contracts).

ConsCGI has doubled in size since it acquired my former company 4 years ago through subsequent mergers.

If you work on a contract in the federal side of the business, you will feel like a stepchild. I work on one of the most high-profile defense projects and we've had 4 Program Managers i just over 2 years. Only one stayed close to a year. But the turnover is seen throughout our office. There is zero harmony or morale among our ranks. And ideas to revitalize our respective departments are often overlooked.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in leadership! Bring people who are motivated to drive the passion of the business. There's no camaraderie, and therefore no collective incentive to persevere.

Turnover at the top is one of the most counteractive forces in the work environment.

Not A Good Place for Mid Level Professionals, Bad Health Insurance if you have a family, not a lot of diversity

Momentum Analyst (Current Employee) Fairfax, VA

ProsGreat Salary, Work From Home, Great Stock Ownership Benefit, Annual Bonus, Social Club (if you ant to join), Great for COLLEGE HIRES

ConsNot a lot of diversity (African American's) this leads to being polarized in a majority white environment, Not a good place for mid-level professional of any race, not many African Americans in management outside of human resources, terrible health insurance not family friendly insurance will not pay till you reach $6000/$7000 deductible must setup Health Savings Account no copayments in plans this has the net effect of reducing your salary

    Every (wo)man for themselves.

Senior Consultant (Former Employee) Fairfax, VA

ProsI worked from home 100% doing nearly nothing for over a year. It was GREAT, and really boring all at the same time.

ConsHad I not asked for work, and an assignment change I likely could have continued to sit at home and collect a pay check for doing almost nothing. The job did not challenge me.

    Many opportunities for improvement

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsThe vast majority of your coworkers work hard and are collaborative. There is a wide variety of work projects based on organic and inorganic growth of the company.

ConsPeople are not held accountable for the quality of their work, yet they continue to be promoted. Management seems to run around after the latest shiny object/market opportunity without a clear vision how to deliver quality profitably.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore career reward for hard work, less for cronies. Refocus the CGI name on delivering quality for broad specialty areas like ERP and app development. The company doesn't need to deliver ALL solutions to succeed in the federal market.

    Perplexed

Director Consulting Services (Current Employee) Fairfax, VA

ProsSome of the people at CGI are absolutely amazing! Smart, driven, excited....but that is just when they've been here less than six months.

ConsCanada, Canada, Canada. Socialism is rampant within CGI. If you enjoy picking up the slack for someone else and they still get the same pay and bonus you do, then this is the place for you. Mediocrity within the employee base makes some groups not receive a decent bonus because we're making up the slack of other poor performers. The Healthcare.gov issue is starting to take its toll within the ranks.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't think they'll listen. It is sort of my way or the highway here.

    Sr. Consultant

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Fairfax, VA

ProsLocation - Close to where I live
Decent Salary - Salary is on par or close to par for my position in this area
    Okay Benefits - decent benefits

ConsNo work life balance. You are on call 24/7 on weekends and holidays too without any compensation
    Always under pressure to deliver

Advice to Senior ManagementManage client expectations in a better manner. Hire more developers ie people who actually do the work. Too much micro management demotivates people.

Federal Employees are having a tough time. Furlough is affecting the company very unevenly.

Senior Consultant (Current Employee) Washington, DC

ProsIt is a paycheck, there is room for growth if you want to work 60-80 hours a week.

ConsCompany talks about being employee friendly but they are below average in every way. Expectations are very high for employees but the benefits few for going the extra mile. "Bonus plan" is an insult, money stays at the top and does not trickle down.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn order to make more you have to give a little. Every nickle and dime from the Employees benefits that you continue to cut means poor morale. The balance between shareholder, upper management and the CEO is tipped drastically in their favor at a cost to employees. Vacation plan is terrible, flex-hours usually mean you work a lot, think you will be compensated by some time off but the hours disappear before they can be used. A number of employees are furloughed reducing pay by 20%, with revenue for the Quater at $2.6B and earnings ~$300M you think the company could help out. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
