I worked at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

hard working staff, decent benefits and competitive pay.

    Cons

Too much beuraucracy in the workplace and on the projects. Too much time spent for not enough learning. They need do a better job with social club, which does like one event every six months. A lot of hardworking employees get bad raises because of budgets.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to get contracts just for the sake of getting contracts, take better care of your employees and stop bleeding talent.

    I worked at CGI full-time

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home. Good Stock purchase options.

    Cons

Very slow carrier growth. Management has set mindset and list of people on who should get promoted no matter how exceptional you perform. Salary not the best in the industry.

    Advice to Management

I have seen managers and directors for 20+ years in their positions..company should encourage new blood and give others opportunity.

I worked at CGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits-- company paid health insurance, stock options, 401K, etc. Recruiters were great and the company invested a lot of time with my security clearance.

    Cons

Worked on client site on a Gov't contract. Support staff was treated poorly by Directors-- How can I do my job when I am running your personal errands on CGI's dime? Met with CGI HR to discuss a solution however, there wasn't much they could do because of the client. Was stressed to my brink, and couldn't take it anymore- had to leave. Disappointed that the position was not a good fit, but wouldn't not give CGI another chance. I would say working at Corporate would be a different experience.

    Advice to Management

Don't just allow high turnover on client site. Gov't Directors should not be allowed to send their staff on personal errands. I did not sign on for a personal assistant position. Maybe have more flexibility wit transferring within. I desperately tried to get onto another contract, and ran out of options and was forced to leave.

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at CGI full-time

    Pros

Bright, talented people who want the company to succeed. Stable financial outlook and approach. Diversified portfolio allowing for cyclical trends.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be hard to manage. Lots of change without much change management or regard for impact due to varying business circumstances. Seems to be behind in terms of compensation strategy for sales people and executives.

    Advice to Management

Global does not have to mean one size fits all. There are some really talented, dedicated employees who know the markets they work in - let them help define the business model that works best for their industry and location.

I worked at CGI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

chill, relax, easy job. Although if you are put on one of the busier client project, you will work 60-80 hours a week without compensation for it. friendly environment, flexible schedule

    Cons

almost zero compensation for working hard, close to none recognition. You get exceed expectation review and will get the inflation rate raise of 2-3%. There is no career path here. They definitely under pay you compared to the other consulting company in the area by 20%.

I have been working at CGI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great health insurance, 401K benefits, and wonderful profit sharing program. Management listens to employees and is promotes from within. They have internal training systems that are wonderful.

    Cons

CGI Federal is the Business Unit I worked for and they place no value on education or experience. The managers are taught to maintain status quo - no innovation. They will listen to you and encourage you to promote your ideas but are quite frank when saying they will not change. Promotions are issued according to friendships and those willing to create a fuss. Being mixed race it didn't affect me but I watched over the course of a year and +50 hires, not a single white person was hired in my division.

    Advice to Management

Education and experience trump friendship. Innovation trumps status quo. If you continue operations in the same manner I have witness then your business unit will go the way of the dinosaur.

    Pros

Coworkers, gym, flextime (with supervisor approval), 88%+ of employees are shareholders

    Cons

(this could be a pro): experiences and compensation schemes vary significantly between the federal practice's business units. high turnover.

    Advice to Management

focus on employee retention. this isn't merely a cliche: high turnover can adversely affect client perception

    Pros

Great down-to-earth people to work with. Easy to be on a team. Great benefits.

    Cons

Not great if you're young and looking for fast mobility or challenges. It takes about a year to learn all you need to know for you role. After that, it's downhill from there. There's nothing new.

    Advice to Management

Don't think that improving morale is putting people in focus groups to come up with non-solutions. Do your job.
