    Pros

I've worked with some great and smart people here. It's a good place to get experience. People in the industry respect CNA. It doesn't have the name recognition as Chubb but those in the insurance industry know us. It is a good place to learn.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for advancement. Small raises and bonuses, but that's probably true anywhere in corporate America. Merit based compensation.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. You are getting a reputation for going outside to fill leadership positions, which is bad for employee morale.

  2. CNA

    Current Intern - Anonymous Intern

I have been working at CNA as an intern

    Pros

The people are great, location is great, and interns get to do meaningful work. You don't get coffee or file papers, you truly make an impact on the company.

    Cons

Some departments are a little short-staffed so many higher-ups have a lot on their plates so figuring out who to talk to about certain things can be difficult.

    Pros

Good benefits, employee moral has improved. Nice gym in the home office building. Good place to develop if you play your cards right.

    Cons

Pay is fair but not great. HR is not great when it comes to internal recruiting. They take forever to follow up with internal interview and leave you hanging for a very long time, at least with my experiences. Have the courtesy to at least touch base after interviewing.

    Advice to Management

Keep employees happy encouraging them and showing more appreciation.

    Pros

Great company. Decent pay, brilliant people...for the most part.

    Cons

Politics. They seem to be seen everywhere here. Senior mgmt don't think it exists, frontline employees don't understand them which leaves the middle managers torn and having to play serious politics to get things done

    Advice to Management

Learn how the middle have to lead from the center. In reality the heart and soul of the company is not at the top or the bottom but in the middle and these managers need to feel comfortable to succeed. Given the brilliant minds we have in this company we should be able to accomplish anything.
