    Pros

    Several skilled, professional, positive coworkers

    Cons

Nepotism at the corporate level. Make decision based on stock price- i.e. short term thinking. R&D budgets get slashed every year and there are such gaps in the product line that it is diffcult to sell. In addition there are no corporate contracts and our competitors have sole source agreements which shut the door on the possibility of selling.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Flexible hours, decent salary and benefits, a few decent products. Conmed is a good place to work if your happy coming in 6th place in the market.

    Cons

Too small to compete in market, poor growth strategy, lack of forward vision, treats employees as an expense instead of an asset, upper management lacks business compass, they are never first to market with anything and they always come out with a subpar product compared to competition.

    Advice to Management

Step down and allow for someone with proper business knowledge to take over and pull this company out of the gutter or sell ConMed to a larger company that can actually compete in this industry.

    Pros

Interesting work, Good Salary, Good Benefits

    Cons

Less than honest appraisals Perceptions from years ago linger and may hinder your upward mobility

    Advice to Management

Direct and honest performance feedback would avoid leading folks to believe that there are career opportunities for them that do not exist.

    Pros

Open to family work life balance Vacation time off is good as well Salary is decent for the general area

    Cons

Management is not open to change. Company literature is full of fluff and no substance. Fresh ideas are not encouraged or accepted.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to listen to employees and not berate them openly in meetings. Reward good ideas from sales and marketing

    Pros

The people are excellent and the job is challenging. The medical field does not get hit that hard by the economic downturn.

    Cons

Lack of mid-level management. More upper level jobs are being created with too few support for those positions.

    Advice to Management

More emphasis is needed on people and salary increases.

    Pros

ConMed has significant challenges, and being able to handle major and minor tasks to completion is highly valued. The staff is friendly, and there is very little distance to reach upper management. Management is receptive to ideas, and are keen to fund projects.

    Cons

Upper management is short sighted, and does not understand the path to organic organization development. There is rampant nepotism (fam & friends) and this is disheartening to most employees. There is no strategy (at least communicated to anyone), and the company seems to lurch from minor problem to major incident.

    Advice to Management

Develop a strategy, map out the plan to get there & invest in the systems and people to get there. End the nepotism, please. This is shameful!

    Pros

Excellent benefits and lots of time off. Hourly employees receive 2 weeks vacation, plus 48 hours PTO. And 13 holidays!

    Cons

Everyone is out to save their jobs. Lots of backstabbing and gossiping. All of the executives still receive HUGE bonuses even as people are escorted out the door. Gotta make the numbers! How can you keep office emplyees who do not know how to use computers??? While escorting hardworking contributors out the door.

    Advice to Management

Clean out executive row!! Notice they remodeled that area to keep the riff raff out! Upgrades to landscaping while hard workers lose their jobs. Come on Joe!
