I worked at CONSOL Energy as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Got to see every aspect of their coal mining ops. Management was very laid back in my experience with the interns. Pay was good, 21/hr.

    Cons

None really. Possible long hours if underground, but that just means more overtime pay.

    Cons

layoffs and/or hours cut without warning, no Christmas bonus, preferential treatment given to relatives and friends of upper management, no merit raises (raises are given across the board annually to good employees as well as bad-no incentive to perform well)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communication between upper management and mining staff. Acknowledge the extra effort of good employees.

I have been working at CONSOL Energy

    Pros

Exciting industry to be in. CONSOL is a leader in safety, and I truly believe that, from the top down, we want to do it the right way. Many opportunities to learn.

    Cons

There is an attitude that just because the people in the mines work long days everyone else should. Sorry I am not a coal miner. I support them and do my job, but I do not need to do their job too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More freedom in scheduling.

I have been working at CONSOL Energy

    Pros

consol has been around for many years and looks to be for many more they seem to care about your personal saftey as well as trying to make things right with the enviorment

    Cons

the management at some locations need to get a better handle on day to day operations and the way things are ran the place i work at could run much more effecentily as far as saftey, compliance, production and cost if the management team would care about the life of this location it all starts at the top and goes down to the men and women working there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

have the management team get a backbone stop letting things go just so they don't make waves take there job and responsablity seriously start working together instead of against each other
