I worked at CONSOL Energy as an intern

    Pros

Get your hands dirty and learn how coal is mined. Its not an easy job but it is worth it. They also have some great opportunities for graduates.

    Cons

Long days, not too many days off. MAD shift schedule gets old fast. Includes some manual labor. Sometimes you aren't given much guidance as to what is expected of you.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the safety focus and make sure that the mines are doing what they are told to do on the safety front.

I worked at CONSOL Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Supportive environment, great pay and benefits, lots of bonuses, very professional

    Cons

the ways things are approached are inefficient in a lot of cases. You will do a lot of what feels like busy bureaucratic work for pretty much anything you accomplish.

    Advice to Management

Try to optimize better, allow employees to just work

    Pros

Modified 9-80 work schedule, friendly employees, overall decent 401k package and fringe benefits such as gym in the facility, outside gym discounts, etc.

    Cons

Middle management seems to be spread too thin, follow-ups on pressing issues are seldom, interdepartmental communication is lacking and overall guidance and direction leaves something to be desired (minimal feedback.)

    Advice to Management

Transparency and communication are the keys to productive and POSITIVE employees!

I worked at CONSOL Energy as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

From day one I was treated as just another employee and given responsibilities and assignments that both challenged me and gave me real-world experiences I could later talk about. Weather it be traveling to various meetings with the heads of the department or heading and helping complete projects, I never felt like "just another intern" while at Consol.

    Cons

With any company that is in the coal business, some old fashion tenancies will be there. I personally didn't mind them but some would view as a "con"

    Advice to Management

    Keep up what you're doing.
