Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

ProsA legacy of IT capability primarily in the Federal Sector.

ConsNew leadership is implementing every conceivable cost cutting and short term control measure to prop up the stock price prior to sell.

Philadelphia, PA

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

ProsA strong and caring staff exists below the level of vice president. Compensation was fair. Strong efforts are made to interact with client base.

ConsSr, management does not listen to client base. Company is in a constant phase of change which confuses clients and clients. Vice presidents sit back and look to advance due to the hard work of employees reporting to them but do not give the employees any credit. Constantly called into meetings.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your clients. Stop the constant meetings and have vp's prepare their own presentations rather then depending upon personnel who receive no credit

Overland Park, KS

Current Employee – been working at CSC part-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe potential is there if things change.

ConsThe management is horrible. It is run by a "good ol' boy" network and the only way management manages is by personality. Management is more concerned self protection from "the mothership" CSC (a quote frequently heard on the management team phone calls) then meeting client commitments (which they frequently don't do). This in addition to the lack of skill building with their homegrown management staff has created an environment where innovation, creativity and client commitment is absent. Clients are leaving in droves and so are employees. The turn over, especially within the Flood group is so high management is openly acknowledging they will not meet commitments.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to look inward and stop blaming the CSC buy out and forced reorg's for failures within their own teams.

Kansas City, MO

Former Employee – worked at CSC as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsIt was just a pay check.

Cons1. No opportunity for advancement. 2. Not enough challenges. 3. No opportunity for more responsibility. 4. Some supervisors were disrespectful in front of colleagues. 5. Would not provide honest job performance feedback when asked. 6. To much on the job politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire some professional managers and supervisors that care about employees.

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than a year

ProsEmployees can work remotely from home.

ConsManagement is disconnected. The reorganization going on is a tired model that other companies, i.e. HP, EMC, Cisco have used and well failed. Well CSC hired the failed senior management from these companies. Hi performers, industry respected people are demoted, downsized, go looking for other jobs. Mediocre staff that run projects red, lose large accounts are promoted. There are favorites who can not do the work, tell the client "I don't know what anyone is working on" when they are the lead. CSC does not know what a PMO is nor what is a project manager. The SE's and AE's run the show and give away the company talent as free work to the customer, then blame the company talent for not generating revenue. The work load does not scale to the resources available with a SA finding he needs to work 24x7 to just status quo. They play really dirty politics. They are off shoring everything at a time when companies are bringing work back. They are affecting stock price by laying off purely based on salary ranges. They play games by telling the A players they are off a project and then put a C player on the project, let the project run red and lose the project to another vendor. The people with talent, the A players are leaving and this is becoming a C-player company.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest. Recognize your talent. Respect you people. Learn team work. Learn collaboration. Give raises once in 5 years.

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time

ProsGood overall compensation and work/life balance. There are occasional pockets of high talent, but they don't last for long in this political environment. Mike Lawrie's changes to the company have been enormous, but not nearly enough.

Cons30 year CSC veterans who are over-compensated and under performing. This leads to a highly political environment where credit for any growth or achievement is quickly grabbed by the inside players in DC. The top-down transformation has left most of these under performers in place, while many of the high-talent next generation leaders have left.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe transformation should have started with the stars in client delivery and program management, not the corporate Presidents who led the company to the pre-Lawrie precipice. Many of the key leaders who led CSC to where it is are still in place, but the top performing staff are leaving in droves. Arrogant statements by senior leadership confirm that they remain just as out-of-touch as they were before.

Clients and high talent staff are unfortunately a distant consideration in this three ring circus of inside ball and political jockeying.

Washington, DC

Former Employee – worked at CSC full-time for more than 3 years

ProsNumerous contracts which allowed employees to laterally transfer.

ConsManagers will stab you in the back. Was pulled from my assignment and replaced behind my back. Upper management was told my government customer fired me for poor job performance. I was given no explination. My customer was told I was moving to another position within the company. Bottom line is I found a job with another company and got a job reference from my former customer.

Current Employee – been working at CSC full-time for more than 10 years

Pros-Chance for a young person to do almost anything
-Stock price has been going up

Cons-No longer a place to make a career. Advice to the new graduate. Get some experience and move on.
-Health care benefits are over priced.
-Forced vacation - even if you need to hold on to the vacation
-Nickle and diming on all benefits
-Customers are angry the deadlines continue to be missed

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up. This company is heading down the tubes and employees are bailing when possible. You have fired great people. Now I'm firing CSC at the first opportunity.
