I worked at CVS Health part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The store really did feel like a family. My co-workers worked well as a team when necessary. My manager started me out at $8.50 and I ended at $9.50 when I left after two years.

    Cons

The corporate employees I came in contact with seemed pretty ignorant of what it was like to deal with customers and carry out our jobs in-store. They seemed to only care about sales and numbers in the stores not about the retail employees themselves. Many of my supervisors and managers had worked there for 5-10 years and had been passed over for internal promotions time after time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the daily work lives of your employees and consider them when making decisions about what goes on in the stores.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time

    Pros

The store I work at is small and not open 24/7 so it was a very comfortable situation when I started. See a few of the same customers daily so it's easy to feel very much like a small town store.
I do like the bold step of not selling cigarettes. Very brave to take a moral stance and not be totally focused on the profits (in this case)

    Cons

Way, way understaffed. I work in front store and there's usually myself and a cashier. That's it. Along with taking care of whatever tasks Corporate has going on that day, I also have to keep the shelves stocked, backup my cashier, help clueless people at the "self-serve" photo kiosk.
Need to put stock away? Oops, now there's no one on the floor.
Want to help customers and provide excellent service? Oops, now the shelves are empty.
Also, very repetative because you are always playing catchup.
Lastly, the pay. I am full-time, have keys to the store, handle the safe, supervise others, am responsable for whatever happens on my shift and yet my pay is less than $10.00 an hour. Lowest paying job I've had in decades

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the stores more employees to help on the floor. Bump up the pay so full-time employees do not have to be on government assistance.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Wonderful customers, great pay, overall good job

    Cons

Co-workers were not nice, at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employee's. I complained to corporate many, many times and nothing was done.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I had the best team of people working with me.we got along well covered each others back and we always laughed while we worked together .which made it a pleasure to come to work even though we had the most stressful position in the company,(the pharmacy)

    Cons

the lack of training before they put you in the pharmacy is not enough for the demanding market of filling medication

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they do not care about the employee its all about the money

Overall a nice, reliable job that comes with little complication if you have good work ethic.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

All assigned tasks are reasonable and manageable. 99% of the time the customers are very grateful when you offer them assistance and thank them for shopping in the store.

    Cons

Because of high prices, some customers will complain about the store to cashiers. Also, they do not always give you standard raises as they should; be careful and know when you have earned a raise (for example, after your 1-year with the company) and make sure it is given to you!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to pay each employee at a rate which they fully deserve; after being transferred to a different CVS, I was told how much i SHOULD be making verses what I actually was paid an hour, just based on my skill set and how long I was with the company.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Discounts, good feeling to help consumers, very festive when holidays arrive. Part time positions are available. Sometime flexible hours. Very hectic if you like busy environment

    Cons

Top Management- not efficient, sometimes lazy
Being a low management- overworked, underpaid, hardly ever good recognition
Pay is horrible. I got superior on my annual review and only got 20¢ pay increase. Hours are always slim except during holiday season. Expect to work extending hours and holidays during holiday season. Very little recognition. Rushed to use hard earned VACATION HOURS. Benefits okay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please acknowledge your employees. Yours work as a team. A lot times, I feel like working for the needs of my boss which aren't always what needs to be done for the actually company/store. For example, my boss gives me tasks that are her mostly tasks of a store manager but wants me to do my tasks and hers. Although I'm doing double duty, if tasks are not completed, I'm heavily advised when upper management does little to no work. Being a store manager isn't about giving out tasks. Sometimes you actually have to put in effort especially if corporate isn't providing you with ample hours to complete tasks.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    overall great team environment.

    Cons

CVS values the customers more than the employees. The hours can be long and demanding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider better pay and more recognition to help retain the talented workers and avoid the constant turnover at the store level.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    direct patient interxn
Help with advice on otc products

    Cons

Constant understaffing...understaffing to the point where service is greatly affected (which I did not like)

Nitpicking and just overall ghettoness of the whole setup and deal (having to bypass most otc's for example)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff your stores...the service we provide is rushed, rude, terrible, and downright dangerous when we have so few employees and so many clients...

I have been working at CVS Health as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

One of the largest pharmacy providers in the country. No fear of closures.

    Cons

Worked for them for 12 years, had nothing but great reviews. My store grew for the entire 12 years I was manager. Got a new young PDM that put me in situations to reduce expenses that jeopardized my license. He would not yield so I left for 8 years. Now I am looking to get back with CVS. They post several positions in my area, but never respond to my online applications.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Coordinate HR with the field PDM's better

I worked at CVS Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Promotions, Leadership and Recognition were all great. Haven't been able to find that in another company.

    Cons

Compensation and work-life balance were a challenge. Caps for salaries and being called in during days off were sometimes difficult to deal with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

compensation caps need to change as well as policies with calling employees in on their downtime.
