I have been working at CVS Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The company seems very stable and you don't need to worry about layoffs. Nice subsidized cafeteria. The technology in IT promotes a great learning ground. If you can survive a year in IT, you can look for another position inside the company and there are always openings.

    Cons

The pay is lower in Woonsocket/Cumberland, RI, not much negotiating, benefits are expensive. Mytime is not ideal, tip - negotiate for as much vacation as you can. Getting into IT Management seems much easier than at other companies and therefore, managers are less experienced. (May just be my observation from a more myopic viewpoint of my own larger team.) The commute can be very much more trafficky than you may expect as there is really one way in and one way out of the industrial park near One CVS Drive. Many of the people who work in IT are obligated to the company; due to this, others take advantage. They squeeze as much of your time as they can get and there's no way to say no, Application Managers in IT are constantly pushing for more. Work life balance is not a balance at all...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about Market Basket, treat your employees better... Seriously, there needs to be a huge shift in how employees in IT are treated.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

My coworkers were one of the only pros at this job. The health benefits are also top notch. The new plans are high deductible, but that's not their fault.

    Cons

Management is always changing. Management is controlling and will backdoor you to make themselves look better. CVS management in this department does not care about employees, only money. You get a raise every April. You're lucky if you get a 2% raise. Work/life balance is unmanageable because all you want to do when you get out of work is sleep or drink. This is a high stress job with NO room for advancement. They would rather hire people outside of the company for supervisor and manager positions than promote someone from within. The turn around rate is severe. They expect top notch customer service out of you, and if you provide anything less you are belittled. The supervisors are all catty. They will throw you under the bus for no reason if they have any reason to not like you. They do this because they also hate their jobs. No one likes working for this call center. But, they do because it's a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so catty! Appreciate your employees more and maybe the turn around rate won't be so high. Throwing a few pot lucks and expecting the employees to provide all of the food and entertainment is not OK. Stop promoting from the outside. Learn to appreciate the few good agents that are actually left before they leave.

I worked at CVS Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

These people give an outward veneer of being committed to ther employees long-term growth. In busy times, those who are willing and able can work overtime.

    Cons

There are to many clicks and insider groups at the division I worked for. New employees were not taken seriously when suggestions were made. Rather than pay appropriate severance packages when downsizing was required, management transfers employees to departments requiring different skills, and then amny were dismissed without appropriate compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Completele revamp management and get into the twenty-first century!

    Pros

Great coworkers, nice building and office areas.

    Cons

You are constantly stalked by management and treated like a thing and not a person. Never any positive feedback, even when you meet or exceed the expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show a little more respect and gratitude towards the employees who keep YOU employed. HR and upper management obviously don't care or the morale wouldn't be as pathetic as it is.

I worked at CVS Health as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The fact that they serve many communities, providing a source for healthcare related matters.

    Cons

The corporate management structure is not trustworthy, and lacks honest commitment/ and integrity to both employees and contractors. They only take care of 'their own'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try delivering on what you promise, do not discriminate against some of your employees if they do not exactly fit in with the crowd. Treat people as you would want to be treated.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time

    Pros

Great pharmacist and most coworkers are awesome, regular customers,

    Cons

dealing with corporate demands, salary, cuts in hours, limited full-time opportunities, unrealistic expectations, making PCQ calls to customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take a shift every 6 months and see reality of being in the store. Realize that surveys are useful but subjective and stop being so punitive about them.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

If you can hang in there, you can take advantage of what was promised to you (although it is getting less and less each year).

    Cons

The company is going through an ill advised HR process for reviews and goal management. The company continues to hire outside employees instead of promoting from within. For some reason it is believed that outside candidates are better than inside candidates and it is proving to be a bad assumption by upper management. Essentially, this company is not putting any investment or credence to its existing workforce and is slowly eliminating tenured employees and reducing any benefits from the past.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your key employees before it is too late. Stop raking in extra bonus dollars by cutting it out of employees with lesser income. Look at those you have hired from outside of the corporation who attempt to build small internal empires. You are failing and the company is luck to be in the industry it is in.
