I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great that you get free cable

    Cons

Micro managed; no room for growth. Coworker blew whistle on manager and got fired 6 months later -- then the entire department was called in by HR and questioned. We had no idea what was going on. From top management to sales support, it is a culture of kill or be killed.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good people, good pay if you are not doing phone work. Great benefits and of course free cable. On Holidays, you get paid triple and on your second day, get paid double time as oppose to regular overtime. It is a place you can make money if you are willing to work for it.

    Cons

when you are working in call center, whether it be TSG or customer service, it is very stressful. You are just a number, as a matter of fact my supervior told us in a team meeting just that, our opinions didn't matter much. Its a numbers game...If you do not like being on the phone for an extended period of time, this job is not for you. Also, getting a different position or a change of schedule is difficult as there are is a 1st preference to older employees with seniority

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to listen to employees and supervisors and leads need to "man up" and take supe calls when they arise, stop appeasing customers all the time.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I worked in Inbound Sales in Piscataway NJ. Most of the people who worked there seem cool for the most part. The company would also come up with different incentives on a monthly basis to reward their top performers.

    Cons

This company will force you to lie, cheat, and steal in order for you to get a decent pay. When you do not lie, cheat, and steal, your perfomance suffers. And when you performance suffers, Cablevision wastes no time showing you the door

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management, for once, put yourself in the shoes of your employees. Sit down and anaylze how they really feel. Instead of hammering down your policies, work with your employees to come up with new policies that benefit everyone. Try to be a teammate for once.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time

    Pros

decent salary & benefits, awesome people to work with as most are down to earth and have a sense of humor

    Cons

schedule isn't flexible, 30 minute lunch breaks, can't use the bathroom when needed unless you have a doctors note to prove you have to make a few trips to the restroom, job is based on the number game & if you don't pull enough numbers they fire you, there is no job security!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

offer a real lunch break & offer flexible schedules especially for single parents

I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

The benefits are decent, the independence is very good if you don't mind working on your own. The lenghth of vacation time is very good (3 weeks) from the first year.

    Cons

The sales goals and product pricing has gone up drastically. The goals are very hard to hit with the fierce competition. This year if you sell at the same levels as last year you earn half as much commissions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most people in my department work very hard at the job. We pay for our own gas which has gone up considerably over the past few years. We pay for our own phones. If you don't set goals which are achievable, all the best people are going to leave. Every single person in my office is looking to leave. Everyone.

Lower the price!! We shouldn't be priced higher than FIOS. People used to switch to us for fair prices!

Your executives who manage our department are out of touch. Have them walk with the salespeople once a month so they see what we are up against.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

Medical Benefits, Free Cable TV, Phone and Internet. Discounts to area attractions and sports tickets. Free Coffee. Pleasant Co-Workers. Fair Dress Code.

    Cons

The lack of choice of hours. Difficulty getting time off regardless of seniority. Poor training methods. Management and supervisors concerned about themselves vs the welfare of employees. The promise of an "Open Door" policy only to have that policy work against you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pretty soon your business will become irrelevant. I suggest you make things flexible for your workers to allow them to make a difference for customers.
