I have been working at Cablevision Systems as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The PMO makes an attempt to put in the proper processes and procedures

    Cons

70% of the company are contractors. All the processes and procedures are not well thought out and prepared by unknowledgeable personnel, usually permenent employees. Contractors are turned into data entry clerks due to the systems not communicating with each other. Any recommendation for improvement falls on deaf ears so my suggestion is to stay away from this company. In my 30 years of experience, this is absolutely the worst environment to work in, and they are abussive to contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Flatten the organization and move away from the numerous and nebulous departments you currently have. Someone should take a full systems approach, touch data only once and not 50 times with so many reports covering the identical data. Take a hard look at your executive staff as many could not have been a manager reporting to me in other better run organizations.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

4x10 Schedule with 3 days off in a row.

    Cons

Crazy hours. Management knows nothing. We get cursed out and yell at all day by stupid customers who can't count or turn a cable box on or off without their hand being held and a gold star. They have no respect for their staff and do not value what we do. Their E3 quality team is complete bullcrap! It's all a set up. We are doormats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn EVERYTHING needed to call yourself a manger or supervisor, don't refer every issue to the Field Comm. reading or KDB, believe me, it doesn't know everything which is why we need your help. Train the leads better and follow up with constant issues. Make the sups and managers get on the phone for at least 1 hour a week in the regular cue so they can know what we go through and so they can REALLY know their stuff at the drop of a dime. My supervisor knows nothing and brushes everything off because he hasn't been on the phones since before the the company had OV & IO service. Get rid of the E3 quality team and give that responsibility to the supervisors or managers- they don't do anything all day anyway but go have buddy buddy meetings and smoke their hookas in locked training rooms.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The cable benefit is great, and the rest of the benefit offerings are good. Starting salaries are competitive.

    Cons

The work life balance is very poor. The workload is unmanageable and there is a lot of favoritism and social promotions. It's a shame because it used to be a wonderful place to work, but over the last two years, it's become miserable.

    Pros

Great that you get free cable

    Cons

Micro managed; no room for growth. Coworker blew whistle on manager and got fired 6 months later -- then the entire department was called in by HR and questioned. We had no idea what was going on. From top management to sales support, it is a culture of kill or be killed.

Just quit - you don't know how to manage

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good people, good pay if you are not doing phone work. Great benefits and of course free cable. On Holidays, you get paid triple and on your second day, get paid double time as oppose to regular overtime. It is a place you can make money if you are willing to work for it.

    Cons

when you are working in call center, whether it be TSG or customer service, it is very stressful. You are just a number, as a matter of fact my supervior told us in a team meeting just that, our opinions didn't matter much. Its a numbers game...If you do not like being on the phone for an extended period of time, this job is not for you. Also, getting a different position or a change of schedule is difficult as there are is a 1st preference to older employees with seniority

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to listen to employees and supervisors and leads need to "man up" and take supe calls when they arise, stop appeasing customers all the time.

Current Employee - Inbound Sales Representative in Piscataway, NJ

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked in Inbound Sales in Piscataway NJ. Most of the people who worked there seem cool for the most part. The company would also come up with different incentives on a monthly basis to reward their top performers.

    Cons

This company will force you to lie, cheat, and steal in order for you to get a decent pay. When you do not lie, cheat, and steal, your perfomance suffers. And when you performance suffers, Cablevision wastes no time showing you the door

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management, for once, put yourself in the shoes of your employees. Sit down and anaylze how they really feel. Instead of hammering down your policies, work with your employees to come up with new policies that benefit everyone. Try to be a teammate for once.
