    Pros

Benefits are okay, pay is okay, but for some it may not be the right path.

    Cons

to political, use to be a fun environment to work, now its all quota driven (even though they insist it is not).

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the mistakes others have made, strive to be the company you once were. Be innovative, don't sit on the back burner and have everyone else beat you to the punchline. When you release products late, you look like you are playing catchup. Ohh and freewheel is a joke and a waste of money and resources.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Free TV, phone, and internet. Nice coworkers. Overtime is basically always offered.

    Cons

Terrible hours. When you start off you don't get out until 12 am or 1:30 am which makes it hard to have a life outside of work. When I started we used to have down time between calls which helped with the stress. Now the company put so many reps on email and chat but didn't replace the phone positions so it's super busy all the time! Annoying customers yelling at you because they don't know what their cable box is let alone how to turn it on. You're trapped in that cubicle 7.5 hours listening to complaint after compliant. Very stressful.

    Advice to Management

Get more people on the phones. I can't tell you how many times I've seen reps on email and chat just surfing the internet because they haven't had a customer in at least 10 mins. Maybe rotate hours so when we get home from work our families would still be awake. Also supervisors don't do much either. I've seen them shopping online for most of their shifts.

    Pros

I met some nice folks there --

    Cons

Inexperienced managers -- some who have been there for years -- completely untrained and dedicated to protecting their jobs over making decisions that would benefit the company. Simple day-to-day tasks are made impossible due to horrible people empowered who make themselves important by constantly creating mountains out of small hills. If you're not one of the "in" people -- and since they do not have set processes and an established success criteria -- managers start bad mouthing you behind closed doors and they don't have the decency to at least let you know that they are having an issue with your approach to your work -- even though there is no set process. One-on-one sessions are ignored and cancelled constantly...so -- no training...no constructive criticism --

The politics of the place is horrible and makes being productive almost impossible --

My advice -- don't do it -- if you're unemployed -- keep looking...

    Advice to Management

wouldn't waste my time -- they need to clean house if they're going to try to survive the eventual demise of the Cable industry as we know it. Look at the Knicks...look at MSG -- need I say any more?

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits are decent, free internet, cable, and phone. Fair pay. Will work with you if you have a personal situation...up to a point. Will compensate for exceptional work. No assigned seats so you can sit wherever and with whomever you like, good co-workers aside from management and certain supervisors.

    Cons

Values are questionable. Clear instances of favoritism/nepotism. Love to micromanage! Sometimes it feels like even your farts are managed. Not much room for growth. Dubious sales tactics. Measures for performance evaluation are not set up in employee's favor. Hours for new employees are TOUGH. 30 minute lunch break will make you feel like a child. *NO pay differential for multilingual reps.

WARNING: This job is NOT for everyone. You will be essentially chained to your seat listening to 80% complaints all day so you need to be able to handle stress. It doesn't help that the environment is not supportive and will make you question business ethics.

    Advice to Management

Less rigidity when dealing with employees with certain life situations. Less micromanaging please! Less greedy. Stop losing paperwork and harassing employees who have medical situations for MORE paperwork!!

    Pros

Great benefit package provided from day 1. Free cable, phone and Internet services are a big plus.

    Cons

They talk a good game about treating people well and with respect. What is said and what is done are completely different things. The environment in HR is so political that it is impossible to know where you stand from day to day. The culture is eat or be eaten. If you are not a former co-worker or relative of those in charge, you don't have a chance.

Senior management is running scared because business levels are lower and lower. The goal seems to be to control the bleeding.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to improve the culture by shuffling the employee deck over and overr and over again. The problem lies with the leadership (or lack thereof) particularly in HR.

  9. I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

Good pay. Good benefits. You work with many very hard working and talented employees.

    Cons

Stressful place to work. Executive Managment pushes the employees to the max. While this results in a lot of good work it also can result in burnout and leave/ in which case you will probably get laid off even if you had a really good run before you ran into getting overwhelmed.

    Advice to Management

Consider people's lives. Encourage people to take lunch and take vacation time and not just as lip service. The company should actively avoid and care about employee burnout - and try to be proactive in improving the employee experience. Yes - the pay is good, but that doesn't give license to expect employees to endure constant overload and a sustained comitenenr that has little forgiveness for an employee who might be tempararily having a difficult time / likely as a result to work at stress. Either way / those still with the company consider themselves lucky to be employed - but very powerless against a constant trend that expects more and more.

    Pros

steady work is the best pro. There is always the option of overtime available to you. Some of the supervising staff are great.

    Cons

There are to many cons besides the ever changing policy as to what your review is based on. There's always knee jerk reactions from the corporate office. They do a poor job of making sure equipment such as ladders are up to date and safe. Like the title also says you are just a number replacable at anytime. I've seen many of my coworkers get away with pretty rediculous things where others get let go after a long career for a minor incident in there near flawless career. so no matter how long you have been there or how loyal you are you can always have the floor come out from under you.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the hard working technicians you have working for you and stop pretending to listen to there needs. Also if you stay without a union it doesn't mean that you can not have someone stand up for an employee in need.

    Pros

Beneftits are good and you will learn alot

    Cons

Overworked and under paid. If you are coming into this company your best bet is to ask for what you really want from early. Raises are about 50-60 cent every year.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and try to fight for your staff. Brooklyn employees are not bad employees they just want to br treated fairly which isn't unreasonable.
