Cablevision should give more opportunities to their employees.

Sales Operations Analyst (Current Employee) Piscataway, NJ

ProsThe give benefits the first day you start and pricing is very reasonable

ConsThey only give minimal raise and do not have much room for growth. Management gives unreasonable expectations which then they make you will like you can not do youre job correctly. If you do not go above and beyond every single day a employee will seem like they are not trying hard enough. I feel that cablevision managerment runs around in circles trying to do the same thing and never improving. Departaments also do not work together it's always a power struggle to get what needs to get done.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more job opportunties for individuals that are willing to grow and learn.

A la carte experience with lots of flexibility.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsExcellent benefits include comprehensive healthcare, cable TV reimbursement, retirement plan, continuing ed, recreational perks, overtime, and a host of other outings and activities.

ConsLousy working hours, high pressure news environment, highly politicized hierarchy, relatively lower salary compared to the competition, no days off during holidays, and not so generous time off.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe hours are already pretty long, so give your employees more time to enjoy with their families.

    Good opportunities but,,,,,

Many (Former Employee) Long Island City, NY

ProsMany departments, positions and opportunities. Good benifits. Observing many managements, good and bad, taught me great skills.

ConsAs in anywhere, can be some clicks. Sometimes truth is not forthwith and trust in upper management can be questioned. A committed and dedicated employee can sometimes be overlooked due to poor upper management. This is one of the best skills learned to make myself a better leader in noticing, more productive and committed employees due to good work ethics

Advice to Senior ManagementMany may be promoted because of work relations not for skill and commitment. Many times a committed employee is overseen and not given an equal opportunity as may have been given to others. Open door policy is not always advised. Take notice to commitment.

loved the co-workers hated the managment

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) Bronx, NY

ProsIt didn't require much work, you just sat on the phone answering stuff that's pretty easy if you have ever used a cable box. The people there working with you on the phones are awesome, and its in a mall so if you work on payday that means you can go shopping. Also has great benefits, some-what free cable(all most free in most cases your bill will be like 30 bucks)

ConsThe managers there suck (not all of them of course, but most) they play favorites and honestly treat you like your in high school or something. One of them will literally stalk you and wait until they find you doing something wrong to pounce on you(not going to say any names but if you work there you know who I'm talking about) now i know that you shouldn't be doing anything wrong at work but its really pressuring when someone is constantly watching you. And its really hard to get home from after midnight which is more then likely the time you shift will be ending if your just starting in this call center.

Advice to Senior ManagementHonestly i just really would like if someone from upper management would take phone calls on a fight night just to see what we go through its really stressful sitting there for 10 hours a day talking non-stop also you tell the employees to treat the customers with respect but some of your managers dont know the meaning of the word and treat them like peasants you should really check there ( for lack of better words) beside manner.

    Big company. Room for growth.

Residential Account Executive (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThis is an awesome company to work for and grow with.  The possibilities here are endless since it's a rather big company.   My job as a residential account executive was not easy but I applied myself and made the best of it.   You could be going door to door in the wealthiest neighborhood one day and the ghetto the next day.  I'm not of the hood but I've lived in the hood, so that aspect did not faze me.  Never encountered any issues though.  I got paid well for my hard work nonetheless and the benefits are great here.  The whole office gets a free catered lunch quite frequently.

ConsThe door to door sales position is definitely not for everyone  but for others, working in the poorer neighborhoods  might be humbling as you meet the kindest hearted families who make the job worthwhile.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to have a protocol in place when they send people to work in not so great neighborhoods. Safety might be questionable at times.

Worked for Cablevision for 2 years

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) Newark, NJ

ProsGood Pay, Good co-workers, great benefits from day 1, They treat well employees on holidays

ConsFor about the first year or so you will be working 3-1130 shift, Out dated systems, the service constantly fails, you get really irate customers

Advice to Senior Management3-1130 sucks for anyone with children

    Not bad and not great

TSG Level II Representative (Former Employee) Jericho, NY

ProsThe benefit package is amazing. Free cable, free health coverage, cheap options for dental, vision, and legal representation.

ConsThe company does not care about you life AT ALL. They say they care about you when you walk through the door but when things happen in your life, they are ready to fire you. Management is too crazy and there is no opportunity for advancement.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need people to be treated well to have a successful department. Stop all the BS and actually care for the people who make the department really good.

    Commercial Account Executive

    Commercial Account Executive (Former Employee)

ProsGreat Benefits and Compensation Package to begin, great people to work with, and a decent sense of fulfillment with the job. Easy job if you put hard and smart work into it.

ConsMarket is well penetrated, management isn't as available for you as they say they are, comp plan ever changing, quota up/commission down, many lay-offs. Security for even top sales people doesn't seem to be there.

    Customer Support Representative

Customer Service Representative III (Former Employee) Newark, NJ

ProsThe benefits package (Healthcare) is by far one of the best I have seen from any company. Free cable, internet, and phone.

ConsSupervisors no less than their own customer service representatives when it comes to dealing with a customer issues or concerns. It is a stressful job at times especially when the company decides to make changes on a week to week basis. Unrealistic call handling metrics.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your experienced customer support representatives and no ," This is what you signed up for," is not an appropriate answer to a stressful work environment.
