I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

cablevison offers a generous base salary which starts at 25K for first year then after it goes to 40K. 401k. Great benefits and uncapped commission.

    Cons

You are just as good as
Your last sale. Company / management doesn't seem to care about you or want to help you if your struggling. They just make you feel worse

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in touch with sales reps. Don't be so negative and make them feel worse Also the micromanagement is such an awful aspect

    Pros

Endless potential. Free cable and great benifits

    Cons

Your money is controlled by what they change the offer to that month. Some months are good some are horrible. More horrible than good and never great.

    Pros

Great Benefits, nice location, nice people,if i had not been laid off, i would still be there. Not interested in going back. Pay is good.

    Cons

My Cons would be there was not enough training time. There is a lot of micro management. Not enough support to the employees.

    I worked at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

One of the biggest employers and leading technology companies on long island.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy, hopefully getting better with current changes in management.
Too many IT departments and not all get equal funding and tools. They waste a lot of money this way. Each business unit buys their own Software and products and does not necessarily allow the entire company to use them. Very silly, if you look from CTO or COO perspective.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consolidate and re-organize. You have lost a lot of great talent because of the Bureaucracy or following Status Quo.
Pay attention to the issues that your Customers are facing and not on the IT issues that are troubling the senior management.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Supervisors and leads were great resources and helpful with your career growth. Majority of the people who work there are great people.

    Cons

Rigid structure. Always changing but for the worst. Health care is fiery cheap but if you need to use it prepare to pay in the long haul. Also the requirements for positions above your change so much. When I first started you did not need a college degree by the time I left they required bachelor degrees for entry level and in order to advance to other higher positions it changed to a Masters. Very uninspiring as an employee. Towards the end I dreaded going to work being verbally abused on the overnight crew by overprivileged customers was draining my soul.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change for the better not to cut corners to try to save your dying empire. Get with the times, focus on making your employees happy. Look past a piece of paper and value what your employees can offer you. Also, fix your boxes already. It's been 2 years and hardly any issues have been fixed. How are those college graduates looking now.
