I worked at Cablevision Systems as a contractor

    Pros

Great and friendly employees. Great place to work if consultants would also be considered as human beings.

    Cons

Poor, inhumane and unprofessional management. One of my co-workers (consultant) would bully me all the time for no reason. When I requested him not to make me embarrassed in front of others, he would say "you cannot work under pressure". I had never complained to anyone about the co-worker bullying me all the time. One Friday evening, I was shocked when my recruiter called me and told me that I was terminated from the project. He told me that he did not know the reason behind the termination. Instead, he asked me if I knew the reason but I was clueless. My guess was that my co-worker must have said something to my manager because I had warned the consultant not to use bad words against me, especially using my mother's name, while he was yelling at me the day before my termination. He was yelling at me because I was taking time to learn the process of the new project. I wished our manager would be there to see what was going on behind of his back. But I was terminated just because I raised the voice against workplace bullying. Otherwise, I had been completing and delivering each and every project before the deadline. This was the first time of termination in my entire life. I have always been a good employee and a good co-worker.

    Advice to Management

Do not listen to others until you find out the fact.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are very polite and professional. The Benefits like 401k, Healthcare, Free Cable, Internet, and Phone are pretty good. Pay is very generous as long as you meet or exceed expectations. College tuition reimbursement and Fair Amount of Overtime.

    Cons

Senior management are totally disorganized. No Consistency throughout the Call Centers. Lack of training and you basically learn as you go. Layoffs almost every single day. Tools often break down while trying to resolve an issue with a customer. Very Angry Customers

    Advice to Management

New Senior Management Overall. Properly train your Employees by having Trainers not an one hour video training.

    Cons

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Dedicated staff, excellent benefits, free cable, phone and internet service, 401K match.

    Cons

Very political, unstable environment. Layoffs abound, which are not handled in a way that is respectful to those being let go. Employees are called in, managers come out with boxes and pack up belongings while other workers sit silently stunned, afraid to look up or talk. Each day, most people wonder if it's going to be their last, to the point that very few personal effects are displayed so one can "pack in a hurry" . . .

    Advice to Management

People are human beings, folks. Be discreet. Be compassionate. Tell the truth.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time

    Pros

As an employee you receive free Cable, Video, Online and phone. Health benefits, thru United HealthCare used to be good. Employees are offered discount tickets for events at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and the Beacon Theater.

    Cons

Management sliced the non-technical support staff to the very bare minimum giving the impression that they were trying to make the company inviting for purchase by another cable provider. A lot of very long time employees were let go destroying any sense of job security for anyone other than technicians.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Free Cable, Great Health Benefits, Decent Pay and ok schedule

    Cons

No loyalty to senior reps. I was laid off a few months shy of making 10 years.

    Advice to Management

Instead of laying people off and hiring new people, why don't you offer positions to reps and give them a choice before giving them the boot.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only positive perk was the benefits were awesome, and decent start pay. Anything less turnover would be unbearable.

    Cons

Job sucks, literally stuck like a prisoner. Worse feeling and job ever. They monitor you worse then the government. Be careful if you any medical issues, if you need to go to the bathroom they watch how long your gone for. No real future, just high turnover all day long. Company themselves is great, the job is just god awful. Try it an you will be writing on this wall someday too. Good luck ever getting a decent shift, you ever hear of a shift bid ? HAHA what a joke !!!!

    Advice to Management

TREAT EMPLOYEES LIKE ADULTS, A LITTLE TASTE OF FREEDOM WOULD BE NICE. YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE TO GET INTO THIS JOB.

  10. Very top heavy organization, Large company with small company culture

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Product benefit and one of the largest employers on LI

    Cons

way too many directors VP and SVPs and most of them have been there far longer than should be allowed given their lack of vision Overly complex organization model, likely due to leadership that doesn't want to let go Most people are fearful to speak up when it is clear a strategy is flawed

    Advice to Management

Invest in an outside unbiased firm to come and bring the company into the modern world in terms of organization, culture and process

    Pros

Benefits are okay, pay is okay, but for some it may not be the right path.

    Cons

to political, use to be a fun environment to work, now its all quota driven (even though they insist it is not).

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the mistakes others have made, strive to be the company you once were. Be innovative, don't sit on the back burner and have everyone else beat you to the punchline. When you release products late, you look like you are playing catchup. Ohh and freewheel is a joke and a waste of money and resources.
