IT Manager (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsGood benefits and pay is about it.

ConsEmployees are not valued. IT senior leadership is too political and treats employees disgracefully.

Advice to Senior ManagementSlash and burn is not a viable strategy.

Don't waste your time in Cadence if you want to grow

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsTechnically not old enough.
Some engineers are smart, and nice.
    Sales / marketing seems okay.

ConsIf you want to grow in someway, don't waste your time in this company.
Management is just caring about what you produced, not what you have, what you need, not to mention what you want. DO NOTICE THIS: Bad words from manager(s) are not uncommon!

Advice to Senior ManagementNobody has sold him/herself to you. They are people, so they must be taken as people, not slave or machine.

    Back to the Past

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood teams within the organzations, albeit few

ConsLack of skills and ability within HR

Advice to Senior ManagementMany in HR have been in the same department for 10+ years. It's time to bring new perspective, new experiences and knowledge.

Management ran the company into the ground ...

Lead Sales Applications Engineer (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsGood technical expertise. Better than Mentor

ConsToo political. Middle level management (directors & group directors) should be replaced.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop protecting your friends.

    poor management, very bad experience

Senior Member of Consulting Staff (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsSome of the best technical people in the industry. Other than that, I can't think of anything worth working at Cadence.

ConsWitnessed several rounds of layoffs, and constant change of management, I feel the company is going no where. There are a lot of internal politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat people with respect. Reduce layers of management, reduce the number of managers, managers should also do hands on work.

Cadence needs better mid level managers

Member of Consulting Staff (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

    ProsGood work life balance
    Good piers

ConsPoor management especially mid level managers
    less growth opportunity.
Very less communication from the management.
Management doesn't want to recognize the good work of employees

Advice to Senior ManagementMid level managers are lots of time biased. Please pay attention to the jobs delivered by your employee rather than from where they belong to and who they are!

Used to be a good place to work, not anymore!

Senior Member of Technical Staff (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

Pros* Peer/coworkers are very nice and knowledgable
    * Good balance between personal and office life

    Cons* Very poor management
    * Don't try to recognise the good work of the employee
    * Lots of politics

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease pay attention to see how your reportees are performing and recognise them with promotion and other package. Don't promote some because of he/she belongs to someone's friend or from differe background.

Work at Cadence only as a last resort.

Marketing Director (Former Employee) San Jose, CA

ProsThere were some good people at the company and they were fairly open in sharing their knowledge and expertise. The company was still #1 in the market, which was something we could be proud of, but it was also something we knew the company couldn't maintain, so it was tough watching it slip away.

ConsTerrible management, which causes problems in all aspects of the company. Morale was so low that it was depressing to even think about going to the office each day. The culture, i.e., they environment created by top management, was one of paranoia and constant change, so no matter how good one was at a job, there was no feeling of security.

Advice to Senior ManagementSell the company.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
