    Pros

Much of the work is challenging and state of the art. Some very talented people in the trenches doing the heavy lifting.

    Cons

Cadence is very top down with little empowerment of employees. Even minor decisions get pushed up and there is very little risk taking. Decisions involve endless meetings and lots of second guessing. Little or no loyalty to long term employees. Lots of formal communication downwards, very limited informal communication up and down.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking to outsiders to fix your problems. You have lots of talent inside but you need to get to know them.

    Pros

The company faces many challenges to compete in its market which means that individuals have to work hard. But, generally, they are financially rewarded decently for a large established company.

    Cons

Management is in flux and not open about upcoming changes. Unsure of implications for future career opportunities.

    Pros

With some talented people, recently becom the fortune100 best companies to work for. Emt team push very hard to beat competitors

    Cons

Less vacations, less pay, high work pressure. Worst of all, full of politics and full of people being there forever and nowhere else to go and not willing to do any work. Not a good place to work for Ying people.

    Advice to Management

Reward people based on their contributions and work load, not by politics and give young people more opportunities and chance to grow. This is a dying industry otherwise.

    Pros

Stable and leadership is moving the company in the right direction

    Cons

A software company run by electrical engineers. More of a semiconductor company than a software company, not very nimble and slow to adopt new technology.

  8. Good EDA company

    Pros

    - good work/life balance - approachable & helpful colleagues

    Cons

    - compensation sucks - follower not a leader - large number of employees with 10+ years In the company makes upward movement difficult.

    Advice to Management

    - less upper management changes - listen to employees - better compensation

  10. EDA as a field is getting commoditized. Not a whole of lot of new stuff going on.

    Pros

Stable job. Great benefits! Good leadership team now.

    Cons

Nothing new going on in the EDA side.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in how the rank-and-file work. Since this is an old field, there are a lot of people who are in the company for a long time. Hence, a lot of bureaucracy and junior people do not get a whole of monitorship.
