Overall nice place to work at. People are good.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Carlsbad, CA

ProsNice place to work at. Company sales appears to be heading in the right direction. Good amount of days off provided.

ConsNo real career growth. Benefits are cut every year.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Positive change in Senior Mgmt

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLots of good and talented people. Even though it is flat, the golf business is a fun business to work in.

ConsToo many middle Mgrs have only worked there. It's hard to break through if you are not part of that group. Mgmt structure needs to be shaken up.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget career management for your employees. It is talked about but it is only lip service.

    Overtime it went downhill

    Administrator (Former Employee) Carlsbad, CA

ProsCo-workers always willing to help. It was a nice working environment. Meeting the golf pros.
    Learning new skills and techniques.

    ConsDirection of company
Pressure to continue tackling more and more tasks
New job duties when others are released so never being able to give 100% unless other tasks falter

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't burn out the great people you have working there. New blood is not always best. Care for those that are there.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

A great job for a high energy individual that can balance customer satisfaction with company demands.

    Outside Sales Representative (Former Employee)

ProsI was able to work alongside some of the most professional people in the industry.

ConsPublicly traded companies have ups and downs which sometimes causes management to make poor decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your Sales Reps and all employees with respect. Being the boss doesn't give you a license to be a jerk.

Big fish in a small industry

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood brand, good product discounts, good people working in the trenches, opportunities for growth if you work hard and network yourself with the right people.

ConsGolf industry is soft and consolidating, no real growth in this industry anymore. New management is constantly making changes to processes and shuffling people out the door. No real job security except for a few connected people.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew management is fixing problems laid down by previous leadership, however start improving communication to those in the trenches and stop allowing fear of job losses halt the organizations creativity.

Nice co-workers, but not what it used to be

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWork environment is good. Pace of work is good and they are flexible with the work schedule, a great amount of vacation/time off.

ConsBenefits have dropped dramatically, regular layoffs for the last 3 years, a ton of cost cutting measures, morale is horrible.

great place to grow that has gone downhill

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Carlsbad, CA

ProsWhen I started it was very entreprenuerial, I was able to advance from a Sr. Analyst to a Director in 9 years. Lots of freedom to make decisons that were right for the company, and to pursue training and education in the fields that interested me. great benefits, great work life balance.

Cons6 CEOs in 9 years led to a lack of cohesion. Each CEO had a new direction, each one brought in a slew of upper management that came from many industries, but no real plan to improve the bottom line. 6th set was enough for me.

Advice to Senior Managementget a plan, expand and find new markets. Golf is pricing itself out of the average person's life, you must expand into something else. Quit retreating.

If it weren't for my peers, I would have been gone long ago ...

Corporate IT (Current Employee) Carlsbad, CA

ProsPeople you work around , perks

Consdated offices, poor middle management, lack of vision, old technologies, LACK OF MONEY FOR ANYTHING NEW - The answer is always, "We don't have the money for that" - even tech support for enterprise software, very FRAGILE and OLD tech environments, peers are AFRAID to say anything in fear of retribution by managers. If there is a tech issue, you are expected to respond even on your days off because there is no back-up for your position and if you think you are calling tech support FORGET IT because they don't buy maintenance.

Advice to Senior ManagementADVICE? They don't need advice because they either know everything or will refute what you offer. They say they have an "Open Door" policy but don't want to ever be told of issues - they are in DENIAL. Get real or lose what little talent you have left.

    Enjoyable, but limited opportunities

Sales Operations (Former Employee) Carlsbad, CA

Pros- Sporting goods industry is more interesting than, say, insurance
    - Good people
    - Great location - Carlsbad

Cons- Lack of strong, focused leadership
    - Priorities change on a whim
    - Limited advancement possibilities - mgmt. either hires from outside or promotes friends
    - Declining benefits
    - Regular, ongoing layoffs
    - Overall, poor performing company in a very declining industry - golf

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
