    Pros

Benefits, especially the employee incentive plan and employer contribution to the 401K plan. The people in my department., especially my supervisor. Convenient downtown location. Recently remodeled workspaces (in Portland at least). Good food in Trellis and Vine (though I could rarely afford it.)

    Cons

Change for its own sake-some changes are specific to Affordable Care Act, but others seem to be just for the fun of it. Sometimes people are let go coldly and without notice. The workspaces, although they are new and glitzy, can be noisy (open concept). Work procedures have to be located using a search engine, which can be difficult to find when you are doing an infrequent or unfamiliar type of work. It can be hard to get out of your department-I never was successful (I worked in group membership). People who are promoted tend to be ruthless and very bottom line oriented.

    Advice to Management

Please actually read those employee comments on the surveys. Respect employees who have knowledge, experience and willingness to work. Look carefully at changes-not just at potential benefits.

    Pros

Decent pay for contractors and decent opportunities to transition to FTE if you show enough subservience. Fair acknowledgment of hardwork, though. Depending on where in the company you contract, there could be lots of collaborative and networking opportunities.

    Cons

Contractors are thrown into the fire to solve problems caused by organizational dysfunction. The levels of compartmentalization can be frustrating and, of course, lead to that ever-latent vagary waiting to frustrate you. Exec management is a good 'ol boys network unlike that of other stodgy industries and the whiff of single-payer healthcare scares them.

    Pros

    The benefits are good.
    The people are great.
    Downtown location is perfect.
The Trellis and Vine have amazing food.

    Cons

Constant reorganization, downsizing, and outsourcing. It feels like a company on life support.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to plan beyond this month. They are extremely reactive and don't see the train coming until the impact is just about to occur.

    Pros

Staff working with were a great bunch of people.

    Cons

Management tends to promote their "friends" above others.

    Advice to Management

Watch the nepotism! When reported, it was pushed under the rug.

    Pros

Most of the people that work there are creative and passionate about the company's values. Which include the motto "members first". Staff and management are both engaged in achieving successful outcomes. Cambia is an incredibly ethical company. The media doesn't paint it that way, but they are very transparent and strive to do "what is right".

    Cons

They talk a lot about embracing change, agility and being flexible but don't always adhere to that line of thinking. Sometimes when they do make a big change, it isn't well thought out and the employees suffer for it.

    Advice to Management

Don't panic, take risks but make them educated risks. Do your research. Don't change when you don't need to. Take a breath. When you make a change, make it count.

    Pros

Cambia hires great people. Peers are outstanding to work with.

    Cons

Management tracks too much minutiae without recognizing what is important and what isn't. Money is spent on the wrong things.

    Advice to Management

Dissolve the PRO and let each area hire their own Project Managers and Analysts. The PRO management is ineffective and dysfunctional.

    Pros

Company is passionate toward improving health care access. My managers were willing to help with any questions.

    Cons

Disorganized upper management. Wasn't given much direction for projects.

    Advice to Management

Try to make more organized project-oriented internships. A lot of interns were hired and several complained about not knowing what they were supposed to do.
