    Pros

I have been working at Canadian Natural as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Great place to gain insight and knowledge of the oil and gas industry. People are friendly and helpful. You will be given real responsibilities and projects that will impact directly the workings of the plant. Hence, it is a very good learning experience.

    Cons

Long work hours (6:30am-4:30pm). Lack of an established program in place to develop students into knowledgeable engineers.

Former Employee - Relief Operator in Fox Creek, AB (Canada)

I worked at Canadian Natural as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Early and thorough safety training: First Aid, H2S, Safe Driving, ATV, WHMIS, TDG, Site Supervisor.
If you proved the ability and attitude to work safely, you gained some autonomy.
Amiable and knowledgeable co-workers answered all questions.
Other operators and mechanics were good to work with.
    Overtime.

    Cons

Some safety administration took a back seat to production.
Movement of personnel within the company meant that I had to assume full operator responsibilities early.

I worked at Canadian Natural as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Laid back management, great compensation, great benefits. The company is a well run organization that will have success in the long run.

    Cons

Remote location, long shifts. This job is not cut out for everyone but if you can handle long shifts and the remote location I recommend working here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to keep the employees happy or you will not have anyone willing to work in such a remote location.

    Pros

    -great benefits
    -good pay and perks
    -low risk

    Cons

-promotion seems based on how long you stay there for
-not a risk taking company and the progress is hence steady

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your student's better projects. It seems culture is heavily dependent on business unit/group, culture of the company did not seem very strong
