I have been working at Capco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly people, open culture, creative leaders, quickly growing the business, beautiful office space, great benefits package, quickly staffed on projects, big name clients, excellent work events and socials, several initiatives to get involved in while "on the bench", company phone with options, company laptop, and free food and drinks!

    Cons

Salary is below the market average, range of projects that may or may not interest you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep employees salaries and benefits packages competitive within the market to ensure the high performers don't jump ship and leave for companies that can provide more competitive compensation.

I worked at Capco full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I ended up leaving Capco to change the direction of my career. However, I had a great time during my time at Capco, due to some of the following:

    - Compensation
    - Upward Mobility (Promotions are based on talent, not seniority. If you work hard and demonstrate the skills for the next level, you can be promoted, no matter what your tenure or age is.)
    - Leadership (Everyone, including partners are very approachable to anyone. They care about your growth and development and listen to your feedbacks.)
    - Culture/People (Work hard, play hard. Very social, everyone is friendly, with great happy hours, Christmas parties, charity projects, ski trips, etc. I have met some of my closest friends here.)
    - Great benefits (Good healthcare, vacation days, and all the other typical benefits such as 401k match)
    - Flexibility (I requested to have local projects, and they were able to accommodate)
    - Gorgeous Office (Beautiful location in NY, free drinks and snacks, lot of space)

    Cons

Some of the downsides I faced while working at Capco included:
    - You can get lost in the shuffle if you don't make an effort to get involved in Capco events
    - You can miss out on some of the networking opportunities if you are in a smaller project or away travelling during town halls, happy hours, etc.

I worked at Capco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I liked working for Capco because the leadership team was hands on and were easy to speak with and discuss ideas and issues. The team members were a great group of individuals and were good to work with. Projects were large and provided opportunities for all levels of staff to grow.

    Cons

Bonus program was an issue as the firm only gave a percentage each year of the annual bonus earned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider staff growth, titles, and compensation as compared to competitors so staff better understand how they compare/contrast to other firms.

    Pros

If you are new to consulting or a seasoned professional, Capco offers a unique experience. They are entrepreneurial, meritocratic and have very flat organization. You don't run into the traditional roadblocks of burdensome process and lots of approvals. If you have good skills in working across an organization, you will enjoy working at Capco.

    Cons

If you are not a self-starter, you may struggle with navigating your career options.

    Pros

A very social company, lots of energy. The management seem to make a lot of effort to communicate with the people, lots of opportunities for promotions and career advancement. Good tools are provided such as top end laptops, cells etc

    Cons

Hours can be long on some projects and getting down-time can be a challenge. Very focused in New York and DC so its hard if you are not located there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Capco full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Simply put, Capco is a great place to start and grow a consulting career with a multi-service line firm. We work very closely with our clients to deliver bottom-line results and innovative solutions. Few, if any, other firms have the capability or depth of experience in financial services that Capco offers. The company is uniquely positioned firm in that it offers end-to-end transformation services solely to the Financial Services industry. This means that there are a number of opportunities to get involved and to take leadership positions earlier in one’s career than other firms offer. Moreover, it’s an indicator of the meritocratic culture that emphasizes innovation and on-the-job performance as the primary factors to career growth. This is a stark contrast to the lock and step models used by other firms. The meritocracy may not be for everyone, especially those who are not flexible enough to wear multiple hats required to be a successful consultant. My experience, as well as most everyone else I talk with, is that this it’s a great experience to be part of a growing, innovative firm instead of being just another number at one of the large consultancies whose promises go undelivered. The education, vacation, and live anywhere policy are top notch.

    Cons

As we grow, we need to ensure that we are as equally as focused on brand awareness and building out the required support services.
