I worked at Capgemini full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Capgemini has an excellent benefits package and most co-workers are very intelligent. Overall I was very satisfied with my employment there and only wish I could have avoided a reduction in force through a reassignment within the company. Compensation was very good.

    Cons

Leadership is struggling to win business in the Cloud services space. Rate cards tend to be on the higher end and make it hard for Capgemini to compete with Indian pure-plays. Not enough bench talent, leading to subcontracting that eats into profit margins.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize offshore resources more frequently and more intelligently. Employ more enterprise architects, expecially for pursuit support.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

As a Business consultant, you get access to many processes and info's about mature companies. This kind of knowledge is instrumental to have a fast track introduction into the "real business" after the university

    Cons

The issue is with all Consultancy firms is that they are tending to have expertize on everything and to reuse same recommendations on and on. Not all companies are like that, but my opinion is that the majority of them are like that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say that the Consultancy companies should be focused in one or two areas, not to all kind of business

    Pros

Company is doing well. Interesting work and the people are not hyper-aggressive. I like that I am left alone to run my engagements. There is a caring aspect to the company, which I have rarely seen in large companies. But I have seen multiple instances where people with personal stuff are supported. This is part of the culture.

    Cons

The back office tools (expense reports, purchasing, etc) are really poor. HR systems are just so-so. The company does not grow great managers.

    Pros

Very easy to reach anyone in the company. Great pay. I enjoyed the job. Lots of access to various clients.

    Cons

Work life balance would be the number one concern. It's a consultant gig; expect no less or more.

  9.

    Pros

Often felt disconnected from the bigger cg. Difficult to network and develop a career when on one client account. Ultimately left to gain promotion.

    Cons

Hard to get visibility to the rest of the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

There is a lot of flexibility to work either from home or at the client site. 4 weeks of Time off.

    Cons

The budget for Training to enhance your skills is scarce. One has to get trained on their own. Personal Internal team building is a challenge because of the kind of business we are in (Geographical spread).
