The salary was good. The staff and the colleagues were fun too

I worked at Capita full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everything is in place that you would want, benefits, car schemes, bupa, etc. All the processes are efficient. Easy company to sell. Lots of experienced good people to work with.

    Cons

You can become a number with no value on the individual. Managers swap and change all the time.

    Pros

Very pragmatic, optimised and efficient. Lots of opportunities outside the operation.

    Cons

Company can lack personality. It's good outside of the operation, but not so good if you work in the operation. High staff turnover.

    Pros

The office environment is quite relaxed where we work in teams. There is pressure to hit targets but it is not a stressful environment. The work is contract based so there is not much security but in the short time I have been there I have had 2 pay rises and expect another in a few months (dependent on hitting/exceeding targets). Company offers paid holidays and some other benefits.

    Cons

The work is only temporary/contract work so there is not much scope to progress a career there unless the client extends the contract.

    Advice to Management

Some of the processes that we must follow to achieve our targets are not ideal. There needs to be more hands on management where they can get a feel as to what it is like to do the job before they make the strategies in order to achieve the goals and targets set.

    Pros

Once you get your foot in the door it's good to move around as they are big on internal recruitment

Nice working environment for people in there 20s

    Cons

    Not much free parking

    No clear path for progression

More moving sideways into different departments than moving up into senior roles

    Advice to Management

Build a really good relationship with your staff in order to increase morale and make it a nice working environment

    Pros

Investment in training is fantastic, substantial opportunities for progression and good variety in different markets and roles.

    Cons

Capita are too focused on delivering metrics, figures and clear profit - not so much employee satisfaction. The negatives of its size are clear - getting simple tasks completed across departments is time consuming and frustrating.

    Disorganised at times
