    Great Company

    I worked at Capital Group

    Pros

I loved the atmosphere, everyone was always in a positive mood and happy to be at work. It was easy to work as a team and speak with supervisors about any issues or questions.

    Cons

While I worked at Capital Group I did not have any cons. Truly, each day was a great experience.

  2.

Still a great company although slipping a bit

I have been working at Capital Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very respectful professional environment; very democratic for a financial firm. Excellent salary and benefits. Strong senior management.

    Cons

Slow career progression; recent personnel/structural changes are concerning. Less focus on the investor than in the past.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep true to what has made CG so successful - a focus on investors.

I worked at Capital Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

After a month at this company, I was amazed at how professional and respectful everyone was... a refreshing change after working at a Fortune 500 firm where managers had unrealistic expectations and bad tempers. My CG colleagues were intelligent, friendly, and fair-minded. No corporate backstabbing, very little gossip, and the most unpretentious, down-to-earth executive management I've ever met... the grandson of the company's founder had the same size office as the other managers! Great benefits, smart people, nice offices, good coffee.

    Cons

Our department chronically struggled with work-life balance, managing an ever-growing workload and often not adequately staffed. Career advancement is not a clear-cut path and growth opportunities were sometimes difficult to find.

I worked at Capital Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I started off with a banking background and very little investment/mutual fund knowledge. After attending the training, I feel I was very well versed in mutual funds and very prepared for the job. My manager really seemed to want to help us gain more skills in various areas. You have opportunities to try different positions, almost like internal internships. Very good benefits.

    Cons

Not really many cons as it fit my needs.

I have been working at Capital Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunities for career advancement and changes
    Great training
Management willing to listen and actually hear issues and take steps to remedy

I've worked for capital for 19 years, and I've had the opportunity to hold numerous positions and fill many different roles within the organization. There aren't many companies out there that will give you the chance to find roles that meet all of your strengths. Capital is the first "real" job I ever held, and I've heard the horror stories from others with other large corporations. With an open mind and a drive to do great work, you can go far with Capital.

    Cons

Hours can sometimes be long due to nature of work and staffing issues

    Pros

Lovely environment to work in. Coworkers are friendly and knowledgeable. Salary is ok for this area. Good parking. Gourmet café for employees. Green company

    Cons

More permanent positions should be available. 18 month contract resulting in me looking for permanent work once the contract expires.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more for more permanent positions

I have been working at Capital Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Capital's culture is one of collaboration, teamwork and respect. The Executive Team is made up of super smart, thoughtful individuals. Your ideas are welcomed. Work-life balance is encouraged. The benefits are very generous.

    Cons

The Investment Group is sometimes perceived as being treated like "prima donnas" opposed to the Admin side of the business. To this I say, remember who brings in the business and why you are still employed.

Separately, a few roles are hard to break out of and HR can sometimes be an obstacle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the company continues to grow and the “oldies but goodies” retire, I hope Capital remembers the culture which originated from Jonathan Bell Lovelace’s vision. A few of the newbies with “elitist attitudes” have had an impact on the culture and it’s not in line with what makes Capital a very special place to work
