Company values are excellent. They believe in helping the community, treating employees with respect and investing to make the customer experience the best. Never been at a company like this one before - amazing place to be.

    Cons

Promotions are few and far between - company is good at targeting talent for advancement but lousy at enabling the rest of the resources who weren't selected.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The best reasons to work at Capital One are work/life balance, and recognition for hard work.

    Cons

There are so many people, and the management tends to chase the next 'shiny object'. You can easily get lost in the shuffle if you do not shine on a regular basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay grounded and aware of your people. Don't let them get lost in the shuffle.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Collaborative culture, good pay and benefits, flexible work schedules and great facilities

    Cons

Too many changes. Leaders don't stay in place long enough to drive sustainable improvements (or be held accountable).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Drive for stability over constant change. Look out for the greater good of the company over building a herd of generalists.

I have been working at Capital One full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Honest and nice people work here. Many managers are advocates for their reports. It is a great place to build a career. Capital One is making smart and aggressive moves to become a technical powerhouse. CEO is a legit nice guy with vision. Capital One has hired a team of very, very smart people.

    Cons

Tough rating system. It it a challenge to get promoted. (It should be.) It is tough to "fit in" socially in some departments. Sometimes, quirky people are left behind because they are different. Highly competitive environment can be stressful but is rarely negative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become comfortable with diversity of thought process and approach, not just background.
