    Pros

There is heaving emphasis put on training, core values and ethics. It is a company that you can be proud for which you work.

    Cons

Promotions are available readily if you are at the corporate office and preference of jobs are given to these individuals over field employees.

I have been working at Cardinal Health as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

--The majority of co-workers are friendly

    --Laid-back work environment

--Higher than average pay (compared to other tier I help desk jobs in the area)

    --Thorough training and mentoring

    -- Shift differential (for those that don't work from 9 - 6)

    --Two paid 15 minute breaks

--It beats not having a job

--Great job for honing your soft skills

    Cons

--As a contractor you probably won't receive benefits from your contracting agency (Cardinal only hires end-user analyst as contractors starting out)

-- Cardinal and my contracting agency screwed up one of my paychecks -- I haven't received the money they owe me yet either (starting to wonder if I will ever see it)

--Takes around 10 - 12 months on average as a contract employee to be hired full-time (Don't let your staffing agency tell you otherwise)

--Monotonous work -- end-user analyst AKA call answering robot

--More customer service skills utilized than IT skills -- not a very technical job

--Some employees, even those in higher positions, malign about other employees behind their backs (slightly toxic workplace)

--Promotions seem difficult to come by. (Promotions depend on what department you work in, what you've done, how long you've been there, and who you know)

--Some of the end-users that call can be obnoxious, belligerent and volatile

--Just get rid of cardinal.com already! Cardinal.com is a legacy website, which has been replaced, but Cardinal keeps it because some customers are afraid to switch. Yes, some of the customers like it, but nobody should be using java 6_20 -- which is the version of the JRE that is compatible with cardinal.com. JRE 6_20 has known security issues. Cardinal.com is supposed to be phased out within the next year supposedly, but they should just get rid of it and make customers switch to the sites that were created to replace it -- these sites don't use Java (except CSOS), look better, and are easier to use.

--Knowledge base needs to be redesigned.

    --Some departments are siloed

I have been working at Cardinal Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture and ability to advance at Cardinal Health make it a great company to work for. Cardinal Health finds itself in the center of a changing industry and continues to evolve to keep the company relevant not just as a distributor or medical products and pharmaceuticals, but also as a business partner for health systems.

    Cons

Simply due to the size of Cardinal Health, it is sometimes difficult to get direct exposure to senior executives in certain roles within the organization.
