Worked for 3 years in IT Operations.

    SAP Consultant (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsWork Environment and Pay was not great but good. Overall I was satisfied with my compensation package. My coworkers were great, helpful and were good. Allowed me to work with a variety of individuals at all levels of the organization. Good business community.

ConsNo motivation whatsoever you get from Manager. Manager does not trust her team instead likes contractors. I think encouraging good work is a way to boost the employee's morale. Supportive work environment is essential for an employee to make significant contributions to the company. In my case, unfortunately, that lacked and left me no choice but to quit my job, although I loved the technical aspect of it. Upper Management does not have time to listen to your concerns. Huge employee turnover in this IT team compared to any other IT teams (Total 10 people left under this manager and 4 people in last four months).

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat place to work "Except" in IT Operation Team. Advice to management - stop employee turnover in this team.

OK but not great; employees treated as commodities.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsDecent compensation, environment, good vacation policy.

ConsPoor management, poor career development. Recent cuts to benefits, other management moves that show employees are not valued as individuals.

Overall good company to work for. Extraordinary amount of data collection but too much attention given to wrong details

    Undisclosed (Former Employee)
    San Diego, CA

ProsGood stability. Strong hierarchical management structure limits upward mobility. Everyone is very busy, but effectiveness is questionable. Overall, bureaucratic and sluggish management style is traditionally resistant to change, but could use a very strong dose of entrepreneurial problem solving infusion.

ConsCross-organizational culture is stagnant at best with little synergy. Most teams are too large to actually solve critical problems.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider using hands-on evangelists with authority to select small effective laser focused teams for problem solving. Otherwise, there are generally too many team players working the same problems with little or no effect. Additionally, there is too much wash, rinse and reuse of routine documentation for effective management tools and guidelines. A 360 degree process between design, supply-chain and manufacturing to invoke true continual improvement will go a long way.

Good place to work, just need to like what you do.

Field Service Technician Lead (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsBenefits are good, other employees work as a team with you, local management does care but there hands re usually tied.

ConsVP level and above has no clue what is happening on daily basis and who the ones are that are a actually keeping the customer as customers, hint it's not sales or implementation...... CareFusion has been doing a stock buy back which is great but the stock is raising and it's not because sales are increasing. Does engineering have a clue of the costs they are causing the company in OT for support staff because someone reversed a 1 and 0 in the code somewhere??? Just saying......

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out of the office and talk with end users, not directors or CEO's of the hospitals but the actual users that deal with the crap that is made in San Diego on a daily basis.

    Great Company, Sad to Leave

    Business Analyst (Former Employee)
    Leawood, KS

ProsGreat products, life-saving products to believe in, a company where you can really help people and be proud of the work you are doing

ConsManagement makes bad choices, IT dept was less than stellar

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you have a good thing going, like a crack team, don't dissolve their entire office just because it's not in the ideal location. That hurt your company and the people you laid off for no reason.
