    Pros

There are some highly competent and fun people to work with here. The pay and benefits are competitive. The culture is easy going and pretty much stress free.

    Cons

Nothing ever happens here. One project after another gets cancelled. Carefusion has not been able to put out a new product in 12 years. Any new ideas are squashed by the "old Guard (e.g. GB) that want to keep the status quo and control their little kingdoms. The same meetings covering the same tired material are held literally for years. Boredom and frustration reign supreme.
If you're a technical professional my advice is to stay away. But, if you're looking for a place to kick back and hide, and don't mind being bored, this is a good place to be.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so afraid to make something new. Complete a few new development programs (beside software add-ons).

    Pros

Great co-workers is about the only thing I can add here.

    Cons

compensation, work life balanace, managers are terrible

    Advice to Management

Today is my last official day with Care Fusion.

The TSC department has experienced a serious decline which may or may not have been intentional as part of the merger with BD, and this has left us with a poorly staffed call-center in San Diego.

We went from having a structured tiered system with front-line call-takers, sliders (agents who took calls but could also “slide” over to assist with cases), three different tiers of case workers for each product group (each tier gradually addressed more advanced issues), and a T.E.C. group who served as our product subject-matter-experts (SMEs) to transitioning into an environment where everyone works every case.

Currently an agent is presented to our customers as “senior level” or as an “SME” because they have a pulse and answered the phone. We are openly lying to customers on a daily basis, and lack the appropriate tiers to properly manage our customers’ issues.

A large number of our experienced extended-hours agents were let go rather than moved to days where their added numbers would have greatly improved our service levels and case resolution. The TEC group was disbanded and a portion of them – our knowledge experts – were let go. Numerous agents have left and with them goes their product knowledge which one cannot obtain by taking an e-class or sitting through a training session. It takes months – if not years – to get this kind of exposure and with every lost employee you lose productivity for your technical support call center.

Despite our numerous efforts to address this with leadership, we are consistently told “If you don’t like it there is the door.”

So be it – I am taking the door.

I am writing this to you in hopes of seeing a change in this department. The people who work here love what they do but hate the way they are being asked to do it, and I humbly ask for you to fix the problem. We have tried to assist with suggestions on the proper method of running a technical call center and have been shut out of the process.

I personally think you should bring back supervisors and draw upon your existing technical team leads to fill those positions or at the very least use people with a technical background who better understand our process. Take non-technical agents and use them as “team leads” to handle case assignments; this should never be a position set aside for a technical agent. Scale back on the top-heavy management design, and replace those responsible for getting us into this mess.

    Pros

The benefits are good and PTO is plentiful.

    Cons

Sub-standard pay, questionable leadership, and the corporate culture is not at all good.

    Advice to Management

Sack the majority of the supervisors, managers, and directors. Pay your newer employees more, and fire the dinosaurs that can't hack the new products, or simply can't learn how to support different products.

    Pros

The people on my team and my direct manager are energetic, innovative, and dedicated (not just biased). I could not wish for a better group, unless there were just two of each of them (which we could use in our department).

    Cons

Leadership is all over the place, leaving everyone confused as to our true objectives as a company. Simply repeating CareFusion's taglines and canned objectives at a town hall does NOT align your leadership. Making decisions primarily as independent business segments (contrary to what they SAY, which is that all businesses are aligned), results in CareFusion as a whole taking two steps forward and four steps back, while losing valuable, frustrated people and decreasing reputation along the way.

Additionally, I believe this splintering and lack of accountability leads to an "everyman for himself/herself" attitude, resulting in a lot (I mean a LOT) of backstabbing, passing the buck, and intentional roadblocking in the name of self-interest. This does not breed a motivating and innovative environment, rather it sucks the life out of you, making it difficult to feel excited for your own contribution and place in the machine.

    Advice to Management

The BD merger offers an opportunity to start with a clean(er) slate - to become a more cohesive and unified company - in process, leadership message and actions, and in our goals. Pay attention to what is happening at your company - consider focusing elsewhere than at high levels, because your foundation for success resides with everyone at this company besides you.

I hope leaders will now take the time to communicate in a genuine manner, without glossing over gaps as usual - just face the issues and fix them as a UNIFIED company with aligned decision-makers who look beyond their own interests and can manage long-term strategic thinking.

    Pros

Satisfying job since it directly and positively affects people's lives.

    Cons

Lots of personal agendas and politics going around in every single department, plant, and headquarters.

There is a lot of empty rethoric at the management level, and leading by example at CF is totally non-existing. For example, a lot of emphasis is given to team work and goal achievement, but in reality projects are delayed or total failures due to the inability of managers to promote the very environment they speak of, but fail to enforce.

Accountability at the management level is ZERO. The company is only successful because of the lower level employees who truly work hard ( and they are never really recognized by management).

Promotions are only based upon popularity, how good people are at verbally justifying their jobs, "yes people", and personal agendas. Hard work, job experience/ knowledge, and commitment are ignored by management when it is time for reviews, bonuses, and promotions. Great thing that BD acquired CF, hopefully culture will be changed.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully BD will reorganize the culture from the top down. Parasitic managers and departments (such as "Advanced Engineering" and Quality) need to go.

    Pros

Company offers good wages, benefits and transition from temp to FTE

    Cons

Micro-management, focus, communication skills, lack of strategies, personal development or investment

    Advice to Management

Single minded management focuses on Wall Street's quarterly review and bottom line will only take you so far. It's continued focus on outsourcing to overseas is about to seriously impact its ability to ensure contract renewals and satisfaction. People truly want to strive to provide the best possible end result for both the company it used to trust and its faceless patients who use to the company's foundation. Post spin off CareFusion from Cardinal Health it has yet to find its driving force and focus on how to resume it's place as the first in class it use to be. So many employees are holding out to see if it can be turned around but are ready for the possible layoff that seems to be inevitable

    Pros

Good Work life balance. (Depends on your manager though. ..some teams are happy and some are suffering)
Good Benefits - meets industry standards

    Cons

Lots of cost and budget cuts. That has downward impact on what and how much resources are available
Culture has shifted from value creation to CYA and Back stabbing

    Advice to Management

Bring back the culture that previous management had created

    Pros

Salary, Benefits, PTO decent. Fellow employees do care about the work they do making lives better for patients and clinicians

    Cons

Wall Street and stock price has become the focus of how business is done. Therefore budgets for face to face work with customers are slashed. Each engineer has accountability for 3 to 4 projects generally due at the same time so there is not enough time to adequately focus on the objectives for each team. Employees are never sure what has priority which has lowered morale tremendously.

    Advice to Management

When this company was at its peak, there were 3 & only 3 objectives that every employee was focused. This created an arrow sharp trajectory that brought all employees together (across functions and shared departments) for common goals. EVERYONE was awarded for meeting these priorities & morale was always high.
