    Pros

Work life balance is there if you make it but it will not be given.

    Cons

The late night hrs.that you have to work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

training needs some real overhaul people leave there jobs due to lack of training and employees loose respect for managers when they have to train them and then you leave them at the same restaurant. Overall I liked my job !

I have been working at Carlson Restaurants part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I started out working in the restaurant industry here and it was honestly a great place to work, though that's mostly because of the individuals on my staff and the camaraderie that developed. Chances are you'll have a great relationship with your coworkers and that'll make the time pass far more easily.

    Cons

Company culture is pretty corny and artificial and equally disliked by employees AND guests. The brand standards on customer-employee interaction are just ridiculous, and you can't get away with not following them for long. They've been adding more and more rules as time goes on and it's really sad to see the old culture of individuality and self expression go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up a little and let interaction with guests be a little more organic...... letting us have a personal touch again would do wonders for this company.

    Pros

Great co-workers, who help create a fun work atmosphere

    Cons

Management does not take input from employees and its either their way or the highway. Instead of cutting their own bonuses, they rather let people go to reduce costs.

    I worked at Carlson Restaurants

    Pros

High recognition of brand, fun appearance of corporate headquarters, private company

    Cons

Management, even the "new" management, is not willing to take big chances to make big changes which are necessary to revive this dying brand. Waaaaay stuck in the way things used to be and how to make it great again by reminding people of how great it was? They try really hard to make it a fun place to work but it just isn't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Scrap plans, start over, stop trying to get everyone to remember what a great brand it is(was) and just rebrand the whole thing. It should be a bar with great bar food, music, and tv. Not a family restaurant (unless you want to compete with Applebees forever)
