I have been working at Carrabba's Italian Grill part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The managers always work with my schedule, my co-workers are friendly, and there is always opportunity to make money.

    Cons

Weekend lunches are not very busy, sometimes sections with more tables are given to favorites, and corporate administration does not understand the business well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You provide a great product, but learn to cooperate with one another more clearly. Servers are often told to do something by one manager, and then told the opposite by another.

I have been working at Carrabba's Italian Grill

    Pros

You can make good tips most of the time with high class customers.

    Cons

They would rather the customer get great service and the server make minimal money than allow a server to run a full section.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your servers and give them 4 table sections and train your host. Lower to share

I have been working at Carrabba's Italian Grill part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great food with more than 90% being made fresh and in the kitchen. This gives you pride in the place you work. The store I worked at had very high standards. Co-workers were also awesome!

    Cons

High standards meant one slip up and you were out the door! Fired

I have been working at Carrabba's Italian Grill

    Pros

    Great for college students

    Cons

Personal nights will be gone because of having to work.

I have been working at Carrabba's Italian Grill as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good food made from scratch. Intensive training in hourly and salaried positions. Good benefits

    Cons

Long hours. A lot of reorganization at upper levels of management. Cost cutting vital support roles for area management. i.e. food techs service techs. Slow loss of culture as company starts its publicly traded company venture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to the basics. Don't loose sight of the small Ma & Pa restaurant that was a recipe for success early on. Find a way to make that business model work while pleasing board members and investors. Don't be afraid to spend money on whats important; labor, fresh ingredients, new kitchens large enough to execute high volume rather than trying to save money on new store openings. In the end if we sacrifice short term service and compromise our food that made us famous, Carrabbas will not succeed as far as it could have. The details add up and the guests notice
