    Not worth the money

    Postdoctoral Fellow (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsAs a post-grad fellow, I enjoyed working for my professor, but it was only a short-lived position, so it really didn't get me too far.

ConsThey don't really have much in the way of support once students have graduated and are still struggling to find jobs. I've been out almost four years and still have not found permanent employment.

Feels like I work in 1963

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBeautiful campus; serene setting' good class size; decent work space

ConsMediocre students who really shouldn't even have gone to college; unwarranted entitlement abounds' failed attempts at diversity; time warp agenda, severe problems are brushed under the rug, highly conservative to the point of oppression; no such thing as academic freedom; I am constantly in fear of saying or doing something that may be perceived as wrong; highly censored environment; old boys network and older staff make negative comments to newer and younger/mid level professionals. Do not work here if you are not conservative in your politics, not white, nor Catholic or come from some level of privilege. You will feel stifled.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you are truly committed to a diverse workplace, show it. Create an office of multicultural affairs. Hire a chief diversity officer, really make a concerted effort to retain the talent you hire that comes from diverse backgrounds. Support differing views; really allow academic freedom- the students aren't learning when their professors feel censored, and this leads inevitably to attrition - both from faculty, staff and students.

    Bad experience, poor management.

    Student Worker (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

ProsGood for a student that does not care much about long term and just wants some quick cash. They will hire ANYONE who says they want a job and goes through the interview process.

ConsThe management is some of the most lax I have ever seen. Not punishing those who don't show up for shifts, not giving enough hours to those who do. Terrible.
