I worked at Celgene full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

There is very little be desired here. The pay is middle of the road as are the benefits and working conditions.

    Cons

In two word: bought nepotism. What was the crown jewel of mid-size pharma with endless potential became a nightmare on a daily basis. Mid-level to upper management are an assortment of former large pharma AD's and VP's disbanded and later reallocated to Celgene like an island of misfit toys. Infighting and jockeying for advancement at the expense of the people that actually get the work done. Leadership does dictate performance and when management inspires distrust, disregard and a CYA persona, how could anyone expect a positive working environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you mid-level to (lower) upper-level management actually know how to treat people with respect and attract their interest in longevity. Even now years removed from Celgene, I wouldn't go back there if it were a choice between unemployment and Celgene.

I have been working at Celgene full-time

    Pros

A decent location, with decent pay and good benefits. The work is not very stressful, and if better managed, would be an excellent place to work.

    Cons

-Nepotism reigns supreme at Celgene. If you are a friend or relative of a supervisor or someone with pull in the company, you will be treated fairly, professionally, and with respect. If not, they will treat you unfairly and unprofessionally regardless of the quality of work.

-Management consistently talks to other employees not in HR or of a supervisory level about the job status of other employees.

-Lack of communication and disorganization is the norm.

-A very hostile work atmosphere if you did not receive your employment via nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Registrations department needs to be reorganized from top to bottom. They have management there that has no concept of proper business ethics, proper communication, or proper sense, and would be fired immediately in any other top Fortune 500 Pharma company.

I have been working at Celgene

    Pros

The stock price is going up

    Cons

Complete managerial ineptitude. Layers and layers of bureaucracy.
A glut of former "high powered" managers and directors that brought "Big Pharma" to an organization that isn't prepared to operate under "Big Models." Morale is non existant and as long as the stock price goes up, the issues go by the way side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do an in-depth assessment of how your front line directors and managers treat their staff. You would be appalled to see how Celgene's name is becoming synonymous with "worst place to work."

    I worked at Celgene

    Pros

Celgene paid really well and the benefits are top notch!

    Cons

The place is toxic. There are VERY few people that are happy with their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do skip level meetings. You're employees are unhappy because of the leaders you've put in place. If people weren't afraid to stand up, the company would be a phenomenal place to work.

I have been working at Celgene full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Rewarding area and good company portfolio

    Cons

Upper management very poor in their people skills and leadership. Very tight group of original people who are passive aggressive in their behaviour and non-inclusive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more diversity of thinking and style and accept and embrace these different styles. Be more open and inclusive. You are driving your employees to high stress levels and very poor work-life balance.
