    Pros

If you ever get hired, you'll have to do nothing for great benefits and stock options. You don't really need to know much to be a valued employee

    Cons

They make sure everyone knows you are contractor by putting (non-Celgene) in your email address, the directory at every turn there is an employee to ask/tell you what work needs to be done. But don't expect any help, input or even instructions - but there is not shortage of people to critique what you

    Advice to Management

Time to rethink your entire approach to IT, especially IT middle management

    Pros

I did have one manager that was a good leader but the company squeezed this individual out of the company.

    Cons

There is a lack of communication from management. Also, the goals change constantly with no communication about direction. I had several management changes and some of them were unstable personalities. Those that are unstable tend to get promoted. The company also tends to hire those connected to people already working there ie. Friends, relatives, etc.. The group I am in doesn't promote team work. There was no training or SOPs.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the gossip and things that aren't important to the work. Focus on the work and communicate the goals to the team. Promote team work & SOPs & Training.

    Pros

Good stock price. Steady pay that's on-time every time. At my site my co-workers are nice.

    Cons

Ever since our acquisition management as a whole really doesn't seem to be in touch with what they're doing. Limited professional growth in my field. Basically when something better comes I'll be jumping ship.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the team members in your area who actually do a good job behind the scenes. The ones that make you look good. And actually listen when they talk to you.

    Pros

Great benefit package, amazing stock. Inspiring to make a difference to peoples lives.

    Cons

HR is horrible, they are not biased as they always favor management. You will never get a fair share. Lack of communication and disorganization. They don't live up to their core values. Always do more for less.

    Advice to Management

Assess your management. Skip levels are necessary. If you want to be a leader, act like one. Stop favoring incompetent people who are just a "yes sir". What are your managers actually doing to create a team environment.

    Pros

Job stability, stock options, steady paycheck

    Cons

Limited professional growth, poor management. They are quick to justify resources at higher management levels and leave all the burden and add more work at lower level people becasue they get either less or no resistance.

    Advice to Management

Please open your eyes, and re-assess how resources are being abused to satify some managers egos, they are just out there to build empires. Hard workig people get no recognition, because they are not management, this will have tremendous impact on morale.

    Pros

Flexible work hours, compensation, stock options

    Cons

Honestly - people at Celgene overall are just not very nice. They are the most unfriendly, hard-driving group of people you would ever want to meet. Going to work their was depressing and most of all intimidating. And truth be told, the management THOUGHT they knew alot more than they truly did. If they ever saw how other larger drug company executives were like, they would be ashamed of themselves. But the old boys network thrives at Celgene.

    Advice to Management

Treat the company as a learning organization, treat others with dignity, the ends do not always justify the means.

    Pros

Steady somewhat competitive pay rate as long as you play along, small yearly bonus, reasonable benefits, lots of good folks at the ground level.

    Cons

The culture is very confusing, management constantly preaches about taking initiative, be open, values,be good etc.
However, the environment is very corporate.
In reality, opinions and initiative are not tolerated.

    Advice to Management

Remove your non -profit slogan "Doing well by doing good".
Change it to something more realistic to represent a for profit organization.
maybe something like " Our medicine helps people".

    Pros

    1. Have stock option and the stock price is increasing
    2. Good life work balance since no one desires to do extra
    3. Good products to sell which benefits the patients

    Cons

    1. Yearly salary increment is less than inflation
    2. Yearly incentive is less than 1 month bonus: Employee incentive plan 5% and sales/marketing incentive plan 12%
    3. Less than 5% employee can have more than exceed expectation for yearly review. No encouragement for employee to do more than achieve expectation.
    4. Hiring is person for the job or setting up job for the person especially for those that know the HR personnel
    5. Cutting costs, headcounts and benefits of employees - where is the "Trust in your words and your actions"?
    6. Layers of bureaucacy for decision making and asking to justify the obvious - where is the "Willing to face the challenges and the unknown"?
    7. Retaliation from HR and management when employees are willing to be open to express their views and opinions which is different from management.
    8. No career development plan or roadmap for employees. HR ask the employee to think of their own career roadmap, of course becomes employees think about where are other opportunities in other companies.

    Advice to Management

Don't just talk the talk but walk the talk.
Appreciate the employees not just with the stock option but more on the yearly appreciations.
Have a closer look at the HR department and allow real communication.

    Pros

Nice atmosphere, nice colleagues, good values

    Cons

Poor managers and management. Depends of the department you are working in. Difference of treatment and work condition based on the department you are working in.

    Advice to Management

Hire proper managers and inspire yourself from proper leading companies in the sector. Don't pretend to be one if you don't act like one.
