I have been working at Celgene (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are great, and it's a wonderful working environment. Compensation is great, and they offer stock options. It's a company that is doing well despite the awful economy.

    Cons

There is little opportunity for advancement for an administrative assistant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider your internal people for jobs first. If you don't find a suitable candidate in-house, then consider outside applications. Developing current employees should be a priority.

  2.

    Not for contractors

I worked at Celgene full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pros are for employees - good benefits, nice facilities, nice "extras". As a contractor, I was paid well, but never hired.

    Cons

Contractors work in 6 months stints. Celgene stopped hiring from contractors. If what you do is core for the business, you may be hired eventually. If you are in an any kind of support role, you will not.

    No opinion of CEO
  3.

    Pros

Great science and smart employees. Values r&d. Offer nice development pops once you are identified as high performing.

    Cons

Stuck on the Celgene way being better than other suggestions. Uses many contractors in roles where minimal improvement is expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review benefits like vacation, flex time. Many pharmacy biotech companies offer virtual arrangements for their workforce when meetings, calendars permit.

    Pros

The CEO is a very smart guy

    Cons

I wonder on the values of the COO and a General Manager in the Americas' organization

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Celgene full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Although I didn't work for this company that long, it seems as though they may pay their employees pretty decently.

    Cons

I can't really give any cons because I didn't work with them that long after the purchased the company that I had been working for for 6 years. If they want you, they want you and if they don't, they don't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Past employees shouldn't be denied applying for positions within the company.
