    Pros

    -Salary

    -Benefits

    -Company performance

    -Product pipeline and potential

    Cons

-Lots of employees have inflated, "managerial" job titles (e.g. Manager, Sr. Manager, Director) even though they don't have direct reports. Makes it difficult to differentiate between members of management and non-management and undervalues the positioning of those who actually manage individuals.

-Company is starting to adopt and institute some of the bureaucratic, inefficient programs of larger pharmaceutical companies.

-Not unusual for senior management to invent roles and positions for former colleagues and connections. Raises the question as to whether the position is actually needed and whether the most qualified person got the job.

    Advice to Management

-Dispense with overblown, exaggerated job titles. Reserve the management titles for those who are actually a part of management.

-Continue to foster and emphasize the efficient, mid-size company mentality that has worked so well for Celgene in the past several years, and avoid following the path of Big Pharma.
