I worked at Century 21 full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The only pro was I got 6 months worth of paychecks without any hassle BEFORE they started bouncing. Yes... I'm talking about YOU, C21 - KEY in Friendswood, tx!

    Cons

Where to begin? How about the lies they tell to get employees/agents? Bouncing checks? Letting people go without fault. Cheating. Stealing. Stingy.... I could go on but I won't.

I worked at Century 21 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Never boring and lots of different people. Hours were great! Pretty accommodating for employees with families.

    Cons

Low pay. Poor management. Not appreciated for hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees how you would like to be treated! Pay attention to the employees that really work hard and are dedicated and figure out the ones who are worthless.

I have been working at Century 21 full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good support and training. Large international presence.

    Cons

Its real estate sales. No matter how much they prattle about 'quality service' you don't get paid or rewarded for it. It helps to be a bit of a narcissist. It can take years to get established. If you love sales and would do it even without getting paid. Go for it. You'll do great.

I have been working at Century 21 full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The office environment with real estate agents provides a light hearted and energetic environment. The majority of people working around under 45, so it really help with molding a great culture.

    Cons

Being clocked for arriving at work. If you are a couple minutes late, that does not bode well at all with management. Starting and stopping projects at the drop of a hat, unclear deadlines, and overwhelming praise is usually placed on one or two specific people. If management is unhappy with you, nothing is said to you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide on whether you want to be an owner or a manager. Performing both is a true dis-service to your employees. The result, more often than not, is lack of communication. Ultimately placing blame on the employee. With very little experience outside of real estate, it is difficult for management to understand what is and is not appropriate when communicating with employees. There are multiple training and coaching seminars that are dedicated to employers, I would highly suggest management attend these programs.

I have been working at Century 21 as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

The trademarked brand is highly recognizable to clients

    Cons

There was no referral service or company paid lead-generation system. No in-house transaction coordinator.

I worked at Century 21 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Employees truly care about the brand and it's future, and the new working environment is state-of-the-art.

    Cons

Real estate industry is changing dramatically, but Century 21 is not evolving fast enough. Executive management fail to listen nor take the advice from the experts (i.e. the rest of us) that were hired to provide their own expertise in the first place; the corner offices seem to have their own agenda.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quality over quantity–try to have one great product instead of a dozen mediocre ones. Also, your industry is going digital... practice what you preach.

    I worked at Century 21

    Pros

Generally the reputation of Century21 in itself is positive; it is well known on a national level.

    Cons

Management did not invest enough time and money into maintaining and keeping up with the good reputation of Century21 in itself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest for management to actually take advantage of the corporation's good reputation and invest more money and effort into generation new leads.

    I worked at Century 21

    Pros

Contacts. You will meet a number of people with connections in various areas. The name is strong as well. Alot work can be done on ones own time.

    Cons

Company business is focused on one of the worst markets to deal with right now, which is residential homes and developments. Recently an office with a broker bringing in over a million on his own had to shut down all four of his branches due to terrible market conditions. There is little to fall back on, and clearly when things are in the rough, there is no guarantee you will be safe from any loss or cuts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take initiatives to keep employees and agents informed on the goin ons.
