Very little communication with employees. Management not known for their handling of issues

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLargest supplier to industry so that is a plus. Numerous plants across the US to service national accounts. Wide array of products.

ConsVery negative industry reputation. Senior management often makes decisions that are not financially sound in this mature industry. Very little regard for employee well being.

    The career path to nowhere?

Copy Editor III (Current Employee) Columbia, MD

Prosthis reviewer works at Cadmus, a company purchased by Cenveo in 2007. At the time of the purchase, we saw major layoffs of long-term employees. We know very little about hte new parent company. Locally, Cadmus permits schedule variations of work times, including work at home. Certain departments are relatively "hands-off" on overseeing work.

Conssome departments are definitely NOT hands-off, but are micro-managed by dept. leader. There is very little opportunity to move up on career ladder, and there is no encouragement from within the company. The parent company in Connecticut, a commercial print company, seems to have little appreciation for the kind of work we do here in Maryland (production of scholarly books and journals), and the emphasis has moved from quality of product to fastest and cheapest. Employees are treated, basically, in the same way. Pay raises average approx 1.5%, when given. No company contribution to 401K plans, and no incentive (monetary or not) to remain with Cenveo. A standing joke among employees is that one day we will be charged rent to work in our cubes....

Advice to Senior ManagementFind out what your company in Columbia does (scholarly journals and books), recognize the hard-working people at the below management level.

    Excellent Co-workers, Scary Workloads

Account Coordinator (Former Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsExcellent co-worker rapport and support. People really banded together to try to create a positive environment.

ConsTons of work. Way more than one person could conceivably do. Lots of unrealistic expectations and very little respect where vacation is concerned. I remember getting calls while on vacation about a meltdown at work. The environment was one of anxiety.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour workers are not firewood so work on tactics to avoid burn out.

Can do better ...! About Cenveo Mumbai site

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) Mumbai (India)

Pros- An ISO 9001:2008 certified Publishing company with a focus to deliver quality services
    - Strong leadership
    - Obtains benefits from outsourcing
    - Under supervision of Cadmus Communications, an 100 years old publishing company with experts of publishing technology
    - Owned by Cenveo, a $2 billion dollar US company

Cons- Far behind in improving in eLearning technology and gaining projects, which is the future of Publishing companies
    - Technology leadership located in Mumbai site is an impeding factor of the growth for all sites in India
    - Cenveo's ruthless profit making approach is negatively impacting Mumbai site
    - Cenveo approach seem to be that a site has to grow on its own and provide no help in bringing large scale projects
    - Too much stress on getting everything done from outsourcing
