A great place for driven people to thrive

Marketing Communications Specialist (Current Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

Pros- Great salary and benefits package with yearly merit-based raises
    - Coworkers are smart, driven people
    - Management listens to employees and cares about the big picture of efficiency, etc. to improve the company from the bottom-up rather than top-down.
    - Beautiful tropical corporate campus with cafeteria
    - Flexibility and decent vacation time. Very practical about work-life balance and keeping work in perspective.
    - Endless opportunities to improve professionally: Free ebooks on business and different job functions, great selection of online training not just on company but on professional skills in general, Six Sigma process improvement opportunities, performance reviews, professional clubs that meet on campus...
    - Corporate discounts for things such as baseball tickets and services

Cons- Most people do work more than 40 hours per week, and usually take quick lunches, no long breaks -- But it's still up to the individual's work style. If you get your stuff done by 5, you can leave by 5. Very practical and logical.
    - A little bit of the big company feel where on a normal day no one knows or cares if you're there...but they also don't nag about running errands, etc. for this reason
    - Since it's a tech company, most HR and organizational info is online.. which is convenient but sometimes frustrating - hard to find, technical difficulties, etc. Also meet less people since much of training and announcements are also online
    - While vacation days are good, they have to be approved, so you may be limited. Paid holidays are a little stiff - don't get day after Thanksgiving off, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think management is doing a great job listening to employees and creating an atmosphere where people can thrive. We could use some more face time rather than relying so heavily on email, for example the HR team could have more face time with employees, but they are working on that so it seems. I also think that there should be more importance placed on taking the time to work on high-level activities... ideas for high-level improvements are listened to, but it seems that when it comes down to it, there just "isn't time" to do much about it within the departments, things keep getting delayed. It would be nice to see these very important improvements get top priority in every department, as an investment.
