    Technology Associate

ProsThe company is rapidly growing in an industry that is doing very well. In the last 8 years Cerner's stock has split 3 times (lookup the CERN stock trend over a 5 year period). As well, over the last 8 years the company has grown from ~4,000 associates to ~12,000 associates. While the company has grown to be very large, it still maintains a very entrepreneurial atmosphere. Lots of new innovative technologies are coming out of Cerner that are changing healthcare. It's one of those jobs that you feel proud to be a part of, as you get to see the impact your work has on the lives of others. Cerner is very supportive of long term career growth. It is very common for associates to (voluntarily) move about the company in different roles and organizations. This is great, as it prevents the associate from getting bored and burnt out with their job over time. Compensation appears to be very competitive for the KC area.

ConsMany jobs within Cerner can be very demanding at times, however the outcome is typically very rewarding. I would say that the first two years at Cerner are the most difficult for associates. Sometimes it can take time for the associate to feel settled into their role and understand the big picture and values of the company. Typically most associates who leave, depart within the first two years. However, those who stay past two years find it to be a great career and stay for many (15+ years).

    Invaluable experience and exposure

Velocity Business Consultant Intern (Former Employee) Kansas City, MO

ProsThe corporate culture is unique and relaxed, while still maintaining a professional and innovative attitude. Jeans are appropriate attire at all Kansas City locations, and working from home is a reasonable and common occurrence.

ConsI have heard from co-workers that they experienced an overwhelming amount of work assigned to them for an entry-level role, but I personally have never felt overwhelmed by the tasks assigned. My managers always went out of their way to ensure I was on track and were always willing to re-adjust my schedule if need be.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
