I have been working at Cerner

    Pros

Great place to develop skills and learn. If you are on a good team, you will love it and have a career for life.

    Cons

If you end up on a bad team, it will be rough and you will hate your life! You end up having to work extremely hard because of the ecosystem of the company and naturally will be over worked if you want to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to engage with employees and be more involved with their career development. Need to gauge employee workload better to prevent workers from getting burnt out.

I have been working at Cerner

    Pros

Brilliant group of young professionals from all over the globe.
    Relaxed dress code.
    Top quality engineering workstations.
    Excellent cafeteria.

    Cons

The management used psychological games to make employees compete against each other to keep their jobs. My team was told in a meeting, that upper management was not happy with the team, and that at least one person would be getting fired during the next review, all of which turned out to be lies told to make everyone work harder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It doesn't have to be like that in order to make money, even some of you managers would be much better off working for a company that values the employees work-life balance.

Fast pace, great people, great mission. They have a great entry program for training and several opportunities to move into a management role

I have been working at Cerner full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to get a start in business, excellent learning opportunities with the ability to learn and put ideas into action. Flexibility with most of management on working hours and location depending on situation. competitive compensation (but not the best).

    Cons

Cerner is a VERY busy company and "expects" employees to work their 48 plus hours per week. Travel policies are interesting at times, and really have no regards for the person. Health Insurance is questionable in value, and has some interesting rules as it is very much focused on the "healthy person". Promotion is very incestuous within individual organizations, hard to move up into leadership or management.
