If you are not in the administration circle, then administration will be breathing down your back at all times.

    Teacher (Current Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsThe pay, benefits, and retirement was the best thing about this company.

ConsTeachers getting cut after 4 years of employment and having to struggle to find employment elsewhere. Also, getting paid only 10 months is not good.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees and don't treat professionals like children. They went to school to learn their craft.

The minimal pay coupled with excessive demand keeps moral low.

Classroom Teacher (Current Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsYou meet some nice people, nice families, and sweet children. Some of them you can establish lifetime connections with.

ConsThere are challenging administration teams, petty and catty colleagues, and challenging families and kids. Not to mention long hours and lots of ridiculous requirements.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually follow the advice from surveys instead of sending them, and telling the public that you have teacher input

It's a toxic place that values its equipment and leadership more then employees or children.

    Educator (Former Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsIf you want to live in Charlotte, it's an option and and opportunity. There are a lot of job vacancies, but that speaks to a lot of turnover.

ConsDirection changes with each new leader. Every time someone else is in charge, they come in to reinvent the wheel. It's ridiculous and no one ever listens to anything other than the sound of their own voice. Teacher and staff input is nonexistent.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen. It can't be that hard to realize people are fleeing like a movie theater after someone yells fire.

Great place to leave. The arrogance of leadership is unprecedented. They never listen to the oeople on the ground,

Student Support Specialist (Former Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsThere are great people dedicated to children. People in the schools live for kids and work hard to support children. They stay becauee if those children.

ConsLeadership cares about leadership. They ignore ideas that are not their own and reward kissing up. Horrible management style us the norm.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart listening to employees. Stop pretending to listen.

    Soul-crushing!!!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsDecent hours. Flexible with family situations if management likes you. New management is in place, for now, improving morale.

ConsThe compensation system is a joke. No merit raises. You can get a time-in-position bump, but only when the budget allows. Inter-departmental politics kept projects in limbo.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the compensation system so good people can be rewarded and talented candidates can be hired.

I enjoy working with the kids in the Afterschool program each day.

Assistant ASEP- Substitute (Current Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsThe Pros are learning from other associates, teachers, and students in the school.

ConsThe Cons are taking classes and only working 15 hours a week, which we are not given money for mileage.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice is to check everyone's credentials and make sure you do not put them in a work or job setting.

Lack luster and zero challenges except between employees.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsAt present, I do not know of any.

ConsThere is a high level of favortism, unprofessionalism, and dishonesty between employees and management. College graduates in positions that do not utilize their abilities. Unruly children are not handled at all, even after multiple reports on the same child. Management tries to bully and lie to employees about benefits, using leave time, and anything really - questions asked are often met with hostility even if concerning child safety or helping parents. Some employees really do not care and it seems to be ok with them.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop tolerating bullying of employees but putting "anti-bullying" banners up across CMS, it is a contradiction. Also, hire qualified employees for positions that are fitting of their education and experience instead of putting useless favorites in higher positions, it benefits no one.

ConsValleys are all too common. The haves and have nots. Depending on your situation it could be quite different from other schools. District of this scale is bound to have polarizing differences.
